Description Honestly, that's just silly.

Fun little article from the Daily Telegraph, read more by clicking 'article':
7. It's called the god particle because that's marketable. Originally, it was meant to be called the god-damn particle, because it was so god-damn hard to find. You have to agree with this assessment, given the world's best thinkers have been at it for decades and they only JUST found it.

People misunderstanding what this means. Or trolling around, please, please let it be the latter.

BG: From the Huffington Post... It's a screencap from the animated video about the particle. Or something.

Just shows you can't hold an argument and have no proof. No wonder religious people have no logic.

From physics point of view, almost every particle is a sub-type of the Higgs boson. There are different particles for both the matter and the interaction, the matter is made from baryons (neutrons, protons) and leptons, photons bear light, etc. And all of them are the sub-types of the Higgs boson.Β

Fun fact: God particle originally was short for "Goddamned particle", but then eventually people started calling it that because of how elusive it was.

In fact, it was made to prove the existence of the Big Bang, therefore proving atheists points, not their's.

I come from an uneducated, primitiveΒ Β third worldΒ shithole. When the news was out, all channels were reporting this. Even though they had no idea of what Higgs Boson particle was, illiterate reporters were spouting rubbish that claimed Scientists in West have now found evidence for their goddamned god. In my opinion. 'god particle' was only a metaphor for discovery of something incredible.

if you're an atheist, you're not supposed to reject God. some atheists themselves think you're supposed to reject God, but you don't. atheists who think that are complete morons. if you saw God, you would believe in him because atheists see things that then they would believe in. that's called being skeptic.

YES IT MATTERS, ATHEISTS DON'T REJECT GOD, THEY ARE SKEPTIC, AWARE BUT NEED TO SEE HIS EXISTENCE TO BELIEVE

Rejection =/= Β Skepticism (Atheist Position)

Adoptables-Hoe In reply to iCandyCorn [2014-12-30 05:02:49 +0000 UTC]

Some athiests do reject god. I like to think that there are many different strands of 'atheism'.

I mean, the name in and of itself is the prefix 'a-', literally meaning 'not' or 'without', and 'theism', which is the belief in any sort of deity or higher being.

Athiests, as well as the general idea of athiesm itself, is widely accepted as an evidence-driven set of beliefs; that we may only say something exists if we have solid scientific evidence to back it up. However, since the word literally means 'without the belief of a higher being', it can classify those who reject the idea of a god as well.

Those who call themselves 'athiest' don't have to just be skeptical of the existence. You can be athiest and deny any sort of deity, since you are still without the belief of a deity. I, personally, am skeptical of the existence of a god, but I know many athiests who reject any god. They're still athiest, as per the term, but not in the way that others would expect. c:

I hope this made sense. I'm an idiot when it comes to explaining myself.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

iCandyCorn In reply to Adoptables-Hoe [2014-12-30 07:57:41 +0000 UTC]

Atheism is true by default until somebody proves that a God exists. so that's not rejecting at all. rejecting is different, there is a huge disconnection. atheists don't reject because they haven't figured out if God exists or not.

Theists don't have to believe in a specific God. I'm not Christian so I don't know if God is evil or not, so please don't spam me with saying ``HUEHUE UR GOD IS EVUL!11```

rejecting is still after god reveals itselfΒ and i highly doubt an atheist would reject God after whatever he/she reveals itself. that'd be just stupid and unbelievable since most atheists are smart and know that's not a good idea if they didn't want the worst to comeΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Adoptables-Hoe In reply to iCandyCorn [2014-12-30 21:20:35 +0000 UTC]

Still. While most logical atheists only question the existence of a god, some atheists do; And if he or she turns out to be true... Well, then they're a little fucked.Β In the end, it is their choice to believe what they want. And if they want to reject a deity, then so be it. Not much we can do about it except educate them, and hope they come to their senses before their demise. u v u

iCandyCorn In reply to Adoptables-Hoe [2014-12-30 21:55:46 +0000 UTC]

i highly doubt an atheist would reject after God reveals itself. atheists aren't brainless, they know what's best for them, they aren't idiots.Β

Adoptables-Hoe In reply to iCandyCorn [2014-12-30 22:58:59 +0000 UTC]

Some of them are. The ones that are idiots are only 'atheists' to jump on the 'rebel against your parents' bandwagon.

And they do it to piss people off, which seems to work.

[ex.]Agnostic atheist. so it does matter. because atheists are skeptical. that's their actual position. but agnostic atheists have a different position, you don't call them atheist, you call them an agnostic atheist.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Adoptables-Hoe In reply to iCandyCorn [2014-12-31 18:09:36 +0000 UTC]

I'll still consider them atheists. Trying to classify people into specific names tends to get rather confusing.

Who called it the goddamn particle, and so accidentally started the fashion of it being named by journalists the god particle, so it gets attention, regrets it completely, and scientists are nauseated by it. If you wanna know what the higgs boson is, read about quantum physics.
