Aaaawww...
Honestly, I think It would have been better if the PMD games ended like this. It would have been more touching.
I mean, the canon ending is good... But the idea of abandoning your human form to become a Pokémon feels kinda... Immature? You are basically escaping from your reality, really.

Thanks! Yeah... I feel like choosing to stay is relatable, so that's the canon I usually stick with, but it does leave the player's personal arc feeling unfinished. I suppose it would be a bit hard to script in game though - perhaps a hopeful cliffhanger in which the partner resolves to meet again? Or a spin-off where you're a trainer and your starter seems to know you already...

Those are good ideas, indeed. But I kinda understand why they did what they did.
For starters, making a spin-off game would be too costly and probably not worth it: afterall, the PMD games are already an spin-off... so really, an spin-off of a spin-off looks a bit crazy. But cool, though.
The cliffhanger would be cool, too, but I feel that we would be left feeling like if this arc was even more incomplete.
What if the rest of the game was about you playing as the partner and the whole "post-story" was about the partner looking for the human, only to, at the end, after an arc of character development, understanding that his/her best friend is gone?
Maybe it could be similarly themed around the idea of saying goodbye to a death friend.
Nah, too dark. In the end, I think we all PMD fans love that our avatar gets to tag along again with his/her partner.

Yeah haha, the spinoff idea was wishful thinking- it fits more into a fanfiction or fangame scenario. That's why I decided to try adapting an existing game's storyline to suit! It's actually working really well with my adjusted rules, and ORAS is probably the most suitable game pair for a PMD1 sequel.
Oh, that sure would be sad! I can see it fitting into some people's stories. I always thought the epilogue where you reunite seemed a bit optional interpretation-wise, especially in PMD1 (I'm way too sappy to go that route though).

Oh, so your nuzlocke is like THIS continuation we are talking about? I didn't know that.
Thought, I recall you mentioning it somewhere?

Yes, it's mentioned under the picture Culture shock along with the rules, though generally my progress and doodles are being recorded on Tumblr instead. I probably should've done a journal or something, but I wasn't sure if it would be a big deal at the time.
It's not exactly a Nuzlocke, nobody dies, but I put together some rules to make it more PMD-ish!
