Description First appearance: Donkey Kong 64 (1999)

Army Dillo from ”Donkey Kong 64”. He is a trigger-happy armadillo with a metallic shell armed with retractable cannons. The meched-up maniac guards the key for Jungle Japes, and later returns to Crystal Caves in a last attempt to stop the Kongs.
He attacks by shooting fireballs from his cannons and rolling over his opponents. During the second battle, he now uses his cannons as a jetpack, can create shockwaves, and has a third cannon that shoots enormous homing missiles.

The hardest part with this one was all the angles of the metallic shell, to not make it look too twisted. The overall shading was also a bit tricky, as all of Army Dillo's battle areas has blue lighting, and I didn't want the blue lighting to take over Army's orange coloration. In the end, it turned out pretty okay, although I probably still will find faults.

Something I wanted to point out with your art style in general is the way you draw eyes. I really like the way you draw them! Whether an eye is really detailed like with the Zelda bosses you have drawn, eyes like here where they look very good with the color of the iris and the white areas of the eyes, more simple eyes like the Ducktales characters, or eyes you draw that have an intimidating glow to them. I really like the different ways you draw eyes

Army Dillo was one of the first bosses I have ever played against when I was really young. DK 64 was one of the very first games I remember playing, so this guy I can remember clearly. You did a really nice job drawing him! I like his smile face expression here and how you colored his skin. The big cannons are nice to me too and I like the smoky effect you did.

Thank you pal, that feels really good to hear! Eyes can be tricky to get expressive enough, but it's still fun to draw them. Each video game boss has unique eyes (or only one eye or none at all) that usually contrasts with their overall colour scheme. Especially in the Zelda series, the eyes of the bosses often plays an important (and rather painful) part.Β

And thanks again! The entire concept of Army Dillo is so silly and awesome that you can't help but to love him
