So...the fact of the matter is, the backlash and the movement(s) against this are not going to go anywhere. Nevertheless, I think that it is right and that it is good that people voice their discontent with this. The manner in which this process has been handled has not always been particularly impressive or professional, though there have been moments, and the Eclipse site has been developed further based off of user feedback. For many of us who have been using this site for upwards of the last decade have good reason to be perplexed. Many of us have used this site as a platform to grow and develop ourselves as artists, particularly when other social media platforms failed. For me, it was the last reliable, untouched place.
Certainly, people can just "get used to it", but that is not a great marketing tactic. It is inevitable that many will leave. Many likewise, will become less active. For some, such as myself, the semiotics and rhetorical capacity of the new layouts have been found to be ill-suited to the manner of work we do, for it places emphasis on things with which we have not developed our personal marketing strategies.
That being said, I strongly advise that people try to find it within themselves and calmly accept the things they cannot change. But at the same time, be empathetic. Now, when much of us are trapped in our holes and hidden places due to the worldwide epidemic, understand that the site was to us, a sanctuary. A reliable constant. We are already struggling. That they would impose such a change at this time is inconsiderate. If I could say anything to the staff and administrators here, it is this: learn the meaning and import of effective experiential marketing. You've been able to run a successful site for years when other big names sabotaged themselves over similar changes - is it worth losing valuable long-term users?
But that's merely my two-cents.

By the way - IMPORTANT! - this picture is not mine, but rather, something that people are posting as part of their protest. Yes, you are allowed to use it; yes, you are allowed to post it (please do!). It was made to be used by as many people as possible. This change is going to happen, whether we like it or not, or the way it was wrought, but please, color this whole site with these things.

Anyways, come May 1st and the days following afterward, I will not be active on the site (temporary protest).
Here are some links if you are interested in voicing any anguish or dissatisfaction with this draconian direction:

I have a, more or less, same image of this, and the future of DA that you. But the truth is that, if we don't do anything, for sure we are not going to get anything.
I think that, eventually, Eclipse will arrive to all of us, but with this, maybe be could obtain a mixture between the old site, and the new Eclipse. You know, thinking on an Uthopy, aiming to the moon, to get reasonable results.
And as I just say. Maybe we can't achieve anything, I'm also rather pessimistic... Or maybe yes: there are some protests that, at the end, they gets results. That what I signed that petition, and I'll also join to the 1-2-3 of may's protests. At least, we have to show our disconform.

I think you worded it more intelligently than I did, but I agree. I don't really think boycotting, complaining or making protest art is going to accomplish anything. It didn't when people boycotted Tumblr in 2018. But I'm still going to do it, if only for the satisfaction of knowing that I used my voice when a lot of people kept quiet.

I agree with your point, I've been using DA since 2007 and when I try to use the new version its confusing; The notification system is especially confusing, I end up missing more notifications than I see. The only part of Eclipse that I actually do like is the browsing system for finding new art, but it's not that much better than the old way. I am sad to see you go, even temporarily, I will miss your beautiful artwork -  my insta is the same as my username if you got one.

Eclipse is bad. Very bad. The old design is great, neutral, pratical. Uaaaah.
