Description Finally got an updated line shot of all my coyotes... months ago.  Uploading now...totally counts.  Coyote coloration- trumps just about every other animal I can think of.  Such a versatile little creature, you cannot help but adore their tenacity and ability to adapt and survive in about any situation.  I'd like to think the variation in pelage they possess is due to adapting to all sorts of environments =]  Many of these have their own submission, and I have many to catch up on.  Also I failed at the angle of the shot, it makes the ones on the right seem larger than the left-they are all about the same length.    It's also funny; all these coyotes are female, minus the melanistic eastern.  He stands alone in this crowd haha

From Left to Right:
Piebald/Whitemark (Sunny)
Silver/Gray wolf color (Arianna)
Melanistic Eastern
Western
Black (Rain)
Eastern
Blonde
Red (Audri)

Please note: I respect your opinion, but if you do not like taxidermy, biological concepts, hunting/trapping, or dead things in general, in return please respect those that enjoy all that aspects of life, including death.

Aaah I love coyotes so much, and you nailed one of the big reasons why here. So versatile and adaptable and unique! All these are so neat in their own way <3 That red is so evenly colored and the blonde with the gray undercoat is so gold-and-silvery looking :U Love the high contrast on the one next to them too. The piebald has got to be my favorite though! She didn't happen to be on Ebay at any point did she? I remember seeing one on there that was super similar while browsing around a while back.

Yes, it's hard not to admire that trait! And I love that eastern yote next to the blonde-her leather is so torn up and even missing a huge chunk of shoulder you can't see through the fur, but her coat is drop dead gorgeous.  It's very read underneath and silver and black up top.  And yep! The piebald was on ebay not too long ago, around april/may I believe.  It was actually pyroxene88 's coyote.  I was in love with this pie since she posted her, so I was ecstatic to get a chance at her.  I really wish they had kept her feet, just because her patterns are like she was only truly piebald on one side and the other was normal with incomplete piebadling.  It's really interesting! At some point I'll make her a post of her own to share it in more detail.

Yeah that's the one! I'm glad to see her turn up here! Would definitely love to see more pictures. I wish more uncommon pelts like this were complete, it would be really neat to see what the patterns there were :U What's the difference between true and incomplete piebalding? Sounds super interesting, I've only seen irregular white patchesiebald but I didn't know there were different types within that.

I'm working on editing them of the 3 coyotes I don't have posted, so hopefully soon!  I really do wish they were as well, but I'm just glad to have her.  And true piebalding and incomplete is just a term I am using, it's more just an incomplete dominance type of phenotype going on or something.  On her one side the white completely masks the standard coloration, causing solid blotches of white and the collar on that side extends higher and is brighter than the other.  On the other/incomplete piebalding side there is some bleed through of the standard agouti/sabling color of a coyote, but it makes it look like ticking or something, and the white does not extend as high in these areas.  It's just something interesting I took note of, but I am uncertain of the genetic basis behind it.  Certainly something I'd like to delve into though!

They never seem to keep the feet! All the piebalds I've seen for sale on ebay always are 'fur market' prepped.

Yea ;-;  In fact most coyotes I see on ebay and in shops have the feet lobbed off, and I suppose it makes sense if you are in it for the fur trade money, that's time wasted to skin out feet the fur trade is just going to chop off anyway ahha  Still though, really wish they kept the feet on this gal just so I could see what they looked like haha

i totally agree with you about coyotes! all animals have their individual characteristics, but coyotes are just something else. there's just so much variation. no two look the same! makes me wonder what sorts of colors they could have if we bred them for certain mutations like we do foxes.

anyway you've got some truly gorgeous yotes! they're all perfect reps for their 'type'. that piebald is especially stunning!

They definitely are   Even of the same geographical range they differ immensely.
And thank you! I was extremely excited to get the pied, ever since the original owner originally posted it I've been in love with it, so I was thrilled when they put her up for sale.

Blondes are really pretty, even though they are really just pale reds.  Sometimes a red exposed to the sun all winter too gets bleached blonde haha  A lot of red foxes around here get like that.
