Description Yeah...the camera killed the delicate shades of grey and made them WHITE. Have tried to change it as much as I could but it didn't really work.

Anyway - I kinda like this one - the likenesses to the three Top Gear presenters (Left to right - Clarkson, Hammond, May) are better than I usually manage and I love the scene Which I can safely claim no credit for because its basically a painting of a screenshot I had of the three of them.

Tis oil on canvas and took me a while - can't remember how long because it was ages ago that I did it

Can't wait for the next series

Haha! You're lucky in a way, in England we get it practically 24/7 on Dave and BBC repeats so it's extremely rare that I get an episode I haven't seen before I do love this episode though, typical British weather doesn't help with test driving cars

Thanks!

Haha! No prob Thanks HamHam (or Hammy?) I think this is my favourite out of the paintings I've done of them...though it might just be because the thought of them falling down the slope and getting soaked through makes me laugh *not sadistic at all* ^^

What does HamHamRibon-chan mean btw?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ARC-Trooper-Star In reply to Orlifan [2009-06-04 19:37:50 +0000 UTC]

lol ...you can call by me whatever you like...a friend of mine recently abbreviated my nickname to Hammy, thought it sounded cute

The origin of my username is kind of a long story (so if no one objects, I'll tell it)

Have you heard about the anime "Hamtaro"? It's about a group of hamsters called Hamhams and Bijou (the female hamster with the ribbons you can see in my webcam pic)has a crush on Hamtaro (another hamster and the protagonist). My friends nicknamed me after her because I'm crazy about Hammond . I used to study Japanese and Bijou's name in the Japanese version of the anime is Ribon-chan (Ribon literally meaning "ribbon" because she wears ribbons and "chan" being an honorific given to girls and children), so hence HamHamRibon-chan

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Orlifan In reply to ARC-Trooper-Star [2009-06-04 20:35:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah! Yeah, I know Hamtaro I knew -san means honourable (although now I've typed that I'm having doubts). The japanese I know is very limited...konichiwa hambaga and pan are pretty much it.

Yours is a much better name than mine Mine is Orlando Bloom related Was slightly obsessed when I started this DA account and now wish I could change it. The hassle of starting a new account is too much bother though.

Hammy Hamster reminds me of Tales of the Riverbank which was an old British children's TV series starring a hamster called Hammy ([link] ) My mum named her hamster after it...it ran up the chimney whilst the fire was on and fell out and survived (Stunt hamster!)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ARC-Trooper-Star In reply to Orlifan [2009-06-10 11:57:56 +0000 UTC]

lol I used to study Japanese but I'm not really showing it off or anything. I'm not like those wannabe-Japanese people who shout "kawaii desu" at every single thing to prove they know a little bit of Japanese. No, if anything, I wish I were a Brit just like you

Aww, thanks =3 I kind of figured your username was about Orlando Bloom. I used to like him too Thought he looked cute but I wasn't really obsessed with him though.

omg...that hamster was really lucky to have survived that O.o"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Orlifan In reply to ARC-Trooper-Star [2009-06-22 18:05:13 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I translate 'kawaii desu' as 'cute' but I'm not sure what it really means (but the amount of u's you put at the end of it seems to be optional ).

I wish I knew loads of languages like you Is it true in Holland you learn 4? I got that from an Eddie Izzard stand up and I don't know how reliable he is as a tourguide

I go through fads about wishing I was from other countries all the time - am so indecisive I can't even make up my mind about that - guess I'd have to be a traveller!

That was one of the lucky hamsters...there was also the time she took home one of the school hamsters and it managed to suffocate itself somehow and they had to buy an identical one over the weekend! That sounds like a cartoon plot ^^

eh, I was cleaning out my cupboard yesterday and found some old posters of 'Orli' and was quite happy to throw them away. They're off to be recycled, hopefully into Top Gear 2010 calendars or something nice like that

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ARC-Trooper-Star In reply to Orlifan [2009-06-22 20:34:19 +0000 UTC]

yeah, kawaii desu means cute alright

And it's true we learn 4 languages over here so at least your stand up was right about that. We get to learn Dutch (our native language), English, French and German. And another reason we're better at languages than say, the Germans, is because we get all TV shows and movies with Dutch subtitles, but spoken in their native languages, whereas the French and Germans always dub everything in their own languages. Means they rarely get to hear foreign languages as opposed to the Dutch. And another thing: Dutch may sound like German as the languages are closely related, but our sense of humour is almost identical to the British. Which is why British tv programmes like Top Gear do so well over here. Shame we don't get any of the TG merchandise here though!

Anyway, English has always been my best foreign language.

lol...I threw away my Orli posters ages ago. I was glad to be rid of them, to be honest...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Orlifan In reply to ARC-Trooper-Star [2009-06-23 11:45:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, your English is brilliant Much better than some English people I know ^^ We don't get any foreign TV...not on the main channels anyway - maybe the odd subtitled film every now and again but thats rare.

I'm supposed to be learning Italian (well, the basics ) for a trip in September but I haven't started yet Expect I will end up talking French to Italians anyway out of habit!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ARC-Trooper-Star In reply to Orlifan [2009-06-24 14:01:12 +0000 UTC]

aww thanks

I think the reason why you're not getting much foreign tv is because English is the dominant language of the world.

Oh, Italian seems like an interesting language

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Orlifan In reply to ARC-Trooper-Star [2009-06-25 13:42:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I suppose - although most people in the world speak chinese...though it's not called chinese it begins with an 's' but at the moment all I can think of is satsuma and thats definitely what the language isn't called...

My Italian learning has got as far as buying a phrase book and downloading some free podcasts (and not actually listening to them!). I seriously need to concentrate on it!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ARC-Trooper-Star In reply to Orlifan [2009-06-25 18:38:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh I have no idea what it is called

lol...that doesn't really help now, does it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Orlifan In reply to ARC-Trooper-Star [2009-07-04 15:59:49 +0000 UTC]

Actually it's possible that the language is called Mandarin XD Which is like a Satsuma...I think thats where I got confused *is stoopid* Haha!

Provided they finish playing tennis soon! It's on BBC1 which means while it overuns all BBC1 programmes are on BBC2. Am hoping that the Beeb have enough sense to delay TG rather than cancel it until next week.

I hate tennis

Federer is my favourite tennis player now He won the match quickly so Top Gear could not be shunted off the telly

Favourite bit: Car sauna (if they played it in my car they'd be in there years - the air conditioning is practically non-existent ).

ARC-Trooper-Star In reply to Orlifan [2009-07-06 16:47:40 +0000 UTC]

hahaha lol...hurrah for Federer

the car sauna was my fave bit too! Kudos to them for being able to put up with the heat for so long

I don't think I'd have lasted so long! Have been in a sauna once when I was a kid and hated it so much it's made a lasting impression

The bit with the dogs was great too If the Wolfhound's breath is anything like as bad as my dogs I pity poor Richard
