Description Samhain raising his abdomen to look bigger then he is. Funny thing is he is only the size of my pinky nail so this really didn't make him look big at all! He's a Chaco Golden Knee spiderling and generally they are known to be very docile and easy to handle. And this was all he did...I think he just got a little intimidated by the openness of the cardboard display I put him on to get some pics. No hair kicking or anything like that and he was kind of just leisurely walking around...with his butt in the air! And once I put him back into his deli cup he settled his butt right back down.

Yeah spider and cats usually aren't a good mix! Unless you had a room you could safely keep the T where the cats couldn't get to it. I don't have cats right now but if I ever get one again the reptile room will be totally off limits to it!

Oh and he/she really does have a fuzzy butt! It's one of the things I love about tarantulas...so fuzzy!

Yeah for a spider that gets so big I never would expect them to start off this little either! It is amazing. And I actually got to see him eat for the first time two nights ago! Before this he wouldn't go near the food if I was watching. I think now though he is becoming much more comfortable. He grabbed the decapitated cricket head and started chewing! Pretty cool thing to see.

My mom is a bit afraid of spiders. When she came over yesterday I showed him to her for the first time. She wasn't too keen on me opening his deli cup to show him to her but once I explained to her that he wasn't going to jump out at her or try to bite she did say he looked kind of cute...with being all fuzzy. And this species really is very docile. There are some that will instantly rear up and bare their fangs at you. However the Chaco Golden Knees are really laid back. But he is still a baby and I can understand him getting at least a bit defensive since he is still so small. But he is so timid that I have yet to see him go after any of the crickets I have put into his cup. He definitely eats them. But he doesn't even come running out to grab them. He can be hanging out all ready and I have even dangled one close to him but he waits until he is alone before he goes to eat.
