Tasmania is part of Australia not New Zealand
that said (while we don't like it if non Australians/New Zealanders say it) they both are so close in the way of culture and countries relation ships, you could put them down together.

Shouldn't the Falklands be colored dark blue as they would be part of the UK?

Hey PaintFan08, I was wondering, which parts of USA would the Russians invade first? Based on my observation, there are two possible locations: Alaska(very close to Russia) or Seattle(US mainland). The former can be invaded by sending in paratroopers with Russian Navy pounding the coastline as well as providing air support with MIGS and your version of the Kirov bombers. The Russians can invade Seattle by sneaking in several modified tankers and cargo ships disguised as civilian vessels. These ships, all filled with tanks, infantry, gunships and the necessary supplies will dock in the nearest local harbor and WHAM, Reds on your doorsteps!

In RA2 they attack up through Mexico along with assaults on both coasts. If I was going to do a realistic description of the Soviet invasion, it would probably go like this.
Main assault is carried through Mexico, aiming at cutting the USA in two along the Mississippi. Additional Soviet and Cuban forces would invade Florida and push up the east coast, linking with the Soviet forces in Mexico along the Gulf coast. Direct assaults on DC, NYC, or the west coast cities strike me as too difficult and hard to support logistically. I would say the Russians probably bomb and hit the cities with commando attacks though. Alaska probably comes as a follow up in the Russian plan, taking the airbases there to protect their Far East. Hawaii and Pearl Harbor would be a target eventually as well.
I might type up a short history of my version of Red Alert 2 in the future. Thanks for the comments sir.

Yeah, its just that I find it hard to believe that the Americans will tolerate, let alone recognize a Communist Mexico after losing Cuba to Castro. But even if Communist Mexico did survive and an invasion was launched from there, it will probably be a joint operation between Russia and Mexico's military(to support the Russian's A-class division in terms of numbers). Cuba could be used for launching air raids(courtesy of your Kirovs) into major cities on the East coast as well as landing an amphibious strike force on Florida. Will Russia's navy play any role during the first few days in the war? Oh, and does any B or C divisions exist or is the military organization more up to date?

Well in the Red Alert universe (my version) following WWII, the Soviet Union is considered a neutered power. Slowly they begin building up. Antagonism between Europe and America doesn't allow for a new united front against the return of the Soviet military superpower. Plus the USSR goes out its way to court friends in the third world. Mexico suffers a revolution and the Soviets are invited in. The U.S. doesn't stop it because they A) have intelligence failures missing the size of the Russian contingents in Mexico and Cuba B) Intervention in Mexico is not acceptable to the US public for various reason (political/economic) and C) because the Russians have to invade from somewhere LOL.
The invasion's punch would come from three-five Soviet Armries all at Cat-A levels. B and C units are moved in for occupation duties and reserves later.

There is something I don't understand about Red Alert Two. It is the 1970's and yet Albert Einstein is still alive. How would you explain that do you think?

In the original game I'd assume they would blame exposure to the chronosphere. In my version of events he is dead by time the Third World War roles around. Several of his late in life ideas though are developed into workable technology (ie the Prism weapons).

Ah yeah. Never thought of that. I assume they explain the technology being decades ahead was the result of Einstein leaving behind a special package for his younger self in his office in the past around the time he erased Hitler.

In red alert 2, korea was a republik, and they invaded the ussr. If they are part of Japan, how does that work? do they have a revalution? or deos Japan fall apart?

Darth,
My version of RA2 is done a bit more realistically. So mine has a Japanese Empire that survives beyond the 1940s. Korea had been occupied by Japan well before WWII so it would still be a part of the Empire into the 1970s. This allows for RA3 (although much differently) to occur inside the same universe as the other two games without any time travel nonsense.
Hope that answers your question, thanks for asking!

um if i recall correctly wasnt South Korea an Allied power in Red Alert 2?

PaintFan08 In reply to topgun96 [2010-11-18 01:30:57 +0000 UTC]
Yes but the overlooked fact of the first RA is that Imperial Japan was still around. It's never made clear if the Pacific War still happened. Since things were changed I decided to go with the idea that Japan doesn't go to war with America. They instead join the Allies against the USSR. So the Empire lasts into RA2, and as a result still controls Korea, Taiwan, and moves into the Dutch East Indies (following de-colonization). Korea and Taiwan were Japanese possessions before the 1900s.
This way the lose set up of Red Alert 3 can occur without time-travel. Japan vs the USA and the Russians (although no longer the USSR thanks to their defeat in RA2). I've done all the RA maps in as seriously as possible.
Thanks for the comments!

Nice map! I am surprised the Soviet Union was allowed to continue existence after AU World War 2. The act of declaring the restoration of the USSR alone would be considered an act of war. I guess the world trusted Romanov too much, though I think Romanov was a good man until his mind was twisted by Yuri.

PaintFan08 In reply to HufflepuffBadger1978 [2010-10-20 23:18:45 +0000 UTC]
As explained in the game, Romanov was selected by the Allies to rule after war. Much of the Soviet rebuilding was hidden from the Allies and Yuri's psychic corps was able to eliminate western intelligence inside the USSR. Plus Romanov was not innocent he wanted to get even with the Allies.
For my RA Universe, the Allies did not dismantle the USSR because they felt it would be too much trouble to create a new state. The Central Asian states and Ukraine were to be granted more freedoms. However the West quickly lost interest in occupying and spending money on the USSR. Plus with the Soviets beaten, the Europeans and Americans start competing with each other.
They leave the USSR to its own devices to focus on themselves. My thinking is its a bit like the peace following WWI. The thoughts of punishing the Soviets are quickly forgotten. By time the Allies start worrying about it again, the Russians have grown too powerful to challenge without a war. Plus the Allies are dulled by the friendly General Secretary Romanov (who would be like Khrushchev in my TL).
Hope that helps, thanks for the comments!

You know what the biggest flaw about the mission score stats is? It goes by how long you took to complete the mission, not the casualty count. I can understand the partime stats for the Russians, but not the Americans.
