Seem to me like hes always portrayed in a serious way... but if he is to be most girls' fantasy man, he ought to have a sense of humor too. am i right?i wonder what is lizzy speaking of, that seems so funny to him

Awesome! I know people who consider this art to be one of the best Darcy-reperesenting illustrations for the novel because, after all, he DID had a sense of humor (and smiled quite a lot, eh-heh-heh). I love this couple!

I can't help it, but somehow this reminds me of the scene in "In my father's den". Celia tells Paul (M. Macfadyen) of "The teabaggy game". He bursts into laughter and this is exactly the same facial expression like Mr. Darcy's on this pic here.

The thing is, Darcy is serious, morose even. (I know, I've read the book). He can be a little sarcastic at times, but mostly he's very serious. The reason he's every woman's dream man is because most women actually misunderstand who he really is. Jane Austen intended Lizzie to be light and glittery to help soften Darcy, because on his own Darcy is studious and serious. He's not brooding or morose, but he is seriousness personified. And he's still prideful; Elizabeth has simlply shown him the error of his ways and now he's no longer prejudiced as well.

I completely agree that Darcy is not as serious as people portray him to be. That's mostly protocol and performance based on class. (I mean, he had a secret 'omg-I'm-engaged' evening with Bingley and played along when Lizzie asked about when he fell in love with her. Patient and silly, yup.)
