Description: Asian Linsangs are known to be the basal members of the Felinoids, and close relatives to cats. In old times, these cat-like critters are with the civets(e.g. Civets, Genets, and Binturongs), but now, the Asian Linsangs have their own family, the Prionodontidae of the Feliforms. Asian Linsangs are arboreal carnivores, which they can live in the trees, to prey upon small rodents, lizards, and small arboreal birds. They looked a lot like the African Linsang(the linsang of the civet family), but this linsang, lived in the jungles of Southeast Asia. The word "linsang" or "wlinsang" are wrongly translated as "otter," but it comes from Javanese, because these cat-like creatures are not only looked like otters with spots, but mistaken as a small python(such ones as rock pythons, anacondas, and/or boa restrictors), when they crawl though the ground for prey. Poorly known, that the Asian linsangs had predators, humans, leopards, tigers, pythons, dholes, and even bears(except for giant pandas).
