Description: The apex predator who preyed upon the lemurs, more closely resembled the pumas, and it was Madagascar's largest carnivorous mammals! The fossa! Unlike most euplerids, they can walk on their soles of their feet, like all that of caniforms(except for dogs). The fossas can hunt prey in tree to tree, quietly, on all lemurs they can prey upon, which these cat-like creatures are active at day and night. The animal is aggressive only during mating, and males in particular fight boldly. After a short fight, the loser flees and is followed by the winner for a short distance. The fossas are popular in the DreamWorks movie, Madagascar, which it is accurate, that fossas are depicted that they are the lemurs' feared predators of the island of the same name of the movie.
