Yeah probably, it was the same genus species as the spotted hyena, but the common spotted hyena is Crocuta crocuta(formally known by Exrleben as Canis crocuta, Canis hyaena crocuta, and Hyaena maculata), while the cave spotted hyena is Crocuta spalaea.

They look like a bear bred with a dog.

Well actually, you're halfway right! Spotted hyenas had their frames and builts a lot more like bears, but striped and brown hyenas looked jackal, or wolf like, while aardwolves had their builts a lot like a mix between foxes and civet cats.

Sorry, I'm just so pissed, I looked at tons of art about hyenas on DA and almost EVERY deviant said hyenas were related to FELIDAE URSIDAE CANIDAE and Rondentia and Eupleridae for some stupid reason.

Yeah info may say that their a doglike felinoid, and they share a lot of what a cat can do and What a cat can't do, same with dogs. But the fact is their not a CANIDAE nor a FELIDAE but a HYAENIDAE.
Anywho good drawings I saw your renewed one too, you've improved.Β

Eh? Naaaawww... That's ok, we all know that hyenas are not dogs, not bears, but they are more closely related to cats, mongooses, fossas, and civets than them.

They all have the same body type, and in real life spotted hyenas have shorter back legs and a more bear like appearance, whether the other 2 true hyenas are more canine like than in this picture.

Why thank you johnbartus2014! It's a compliment, when I drew hyenas' eyes shining like stars, so that's why they look cute.
