so these would be the steps taken in completing my previous Twilight drawing. i know it's not the greatest quality, sorry!
all but the last picture are photos taken with a camera, the last pic is the final scan.

i saw you drew the outline first, i never manage to do that. this might sound rude but did you trace it first?

no, i think i've traced something like 3-4 outlines in my life and gave up because just drawing it out took about the same time, and it's less work than trying to find a light source, or holding it up to the window.

i think drawing it out shows talent more. in that case, i genuinely think this is amazing. the hair is stunning.

i had a questing though... how did you get the contrast and the finished look on the last step? i can't get my drawings to look that clear when i post them... =S

well all of the steps are just photos of my drawing pad taken with my camera, so you can't really see that much detail.
the last picture is scanned with my scanner, so that's pretty much (contrast wise) what the picture looks like the whole time, it's just that my scanner is better quality than my crappy camera.

i turn it black and white because my pencil scans with a slight purple tint, but that's it.

Where can you usually get a blending stump?
And it that how you start off all the time?
A light outline of the picture first?

yeah i go with a rough sketch first. Then i add from lightest to darkest my base smudges, and finally detail and harsh lines later on.
any art store would have, and they're not at all expensive, so if you have to go to an expensive art store (which i try not to unless i NEED to, i hate art stores, they're a rip-off) don't worry because they're super cheap. a Michaels would have too, and possibly Wal-Marts? i think?
