Your designs for Vitani's and Kion's cub are perfect - they each have just the right mix of their and their family's traits to make them recognizable but they're still so unique! I especially love Tambo.

Now I understand a lot of things, must have been embarrassing as Hell for Nuka to be saved by Haki of all cubs, so instead of admitting his own failure, Nuka prefers to blame Haki about his scar, saying how a leader should and would have saved him without him getting any damage.
I bet that Nuk thinks HE would have done a way better job if HE was the leader, if HE didn't have to prove his worth to the team then he would have been putting all the cubs into action instead of wasting his time and energy proving how he can follow (FOLLOW! What an insult!) someone who was weak enough to let the best of his team get hurt.
Recognizing Haki in any way is recognizing his own failure, his own fault for getting the scar on his ear and his own fault at his disgrace. In order to protect his own perception of self-worth, Nuk has to take every single failure that Haki does and multiply it tenfold, so he can live with himself having failed as a guard, so he can say how "at least he failed because he was meant to be more, unlike Haki who failed while trying to be a leader."
Every failure Haki makes is permanent in Nuka's mind because it SHOULD be as permanent as his scar (else he would be admitting that the Lion Guard is all about team work and learning, the two things he refuses to do). Nuka's self worth and ego are so flimsy that instead of learning to cope with his own weakness and learning what made him stronger than others, he relied all his life in being better than Haki. So while Haki takes all the steps and carries all the failures in order to keep learning, to keep pushing forwards despite his lack of confidence and weakness; Nuka can only rely on how he "has not failed", without noticing how he hasn't failed because he hasn't really tried to push himself as part of a team (as he believed that position to be too low for him).
Pride and stubbornness are never a good combination for someone, specially because it puts them at danger: They refuse to learn because it would affect their pride, so they take pride in not learning. I see how Nuk is now in a position where the already unstable ego he built up from bullying Haki and from being "at least NOT the weakest cub" will have to be completely shattered in order for him to evolve as a pride member.
I believe that Nuka would be like a cracked vase: Either he's shattered and rebuild himself from the shards, or he is left alone and remains alone.
Well, that's how I take it from all the story so far. Sorry.

You really see through him ;(
Everything he did he always finds excuses to blame everything but himself...
But this boy is just feeling deeply unsecured and confused.

I feel bad for Nuka : he tries to do his best ... even if it's the worst idea ever just to have his father's proud ... well now I understand why he's so bitter ...
I'm curious to know more

Poor Nuk, while I do not support his bullying ways and his attitude, I can understand that he only wanted to prove himself to be a good guard, and pressured himself a lot, afraid to lose his chance and getting kicked out, and just wanted to make his father proud. He did try, but it ended up backfiring and actually causing his fear to come true. In the end, he was the one who blew his own chance, which is sad. If only Nuk could understand and see the wrong in his actions and try to correct himself, just maybe then he would be able to be a part of the Lion Guard again.
