Description So, the Mystery of the Lost Stylus was solved yesterday morning (I found it in the car, of course). Finished this up at lunch, and I forgot to upload the finished version. YTCTMST 's character Min. She's so adorable and pink. You can't tell from the picture, but her dress is an adorable 20's style. I love how cute she is, and YTCTMST 's style just gives me so much life. This is the first time I've actually added makeup, so that was a first. OH! And look at that soda bottle. Yeah, that was a first too. Pretty proud of it actually!

(Updated because I realized I forgot to add stray hairs. Yes, it bothered me enough to fix it. lol)

Glass is always a pain in the posterior, but this has come up a treat.

Little tip for next time: throw a bit of distortion in around the edges and more acute angles to help give it some volume. It's a bit difficult to see, but look around the edges of the glasses in this picture for what I'm talking about. See how the the background curves up the edge and never quite touches the side?

Looks great.

I see what you're saying! I think I'll have to do some kind of study regarding glass and how light reflects, as well as liquid with how it distorts. I thought of making the bottle transparent enough that you could see through to her hands holding it, but I realized I hadn't colored behind it, and I didn't want to spend more time on it (I was being super lazy). Though one of my artsy friends did suggest distorting the straw more near the rim of the bottle, and I was going to do that but I've been trying a new way of doing my lines, and it made things a little more difficult. I couldn't exactly figure out how to do it, I was using a linework layer, so I just need to play around with SAI a little more to figure out everything.

She is super gorgeous! But I absolutely adore anything 1920's related. The Great Gatsby was one of my favorite books, and seeing this character design brought that book to mind.

It was a very good book, it's actually deemed a classic. They made a movie about it starring Leonardo DiCaprio a few years ago. As usual, the book and movie didn't match up exactly, but it was still very good.

Well all movies are an interpretation, in that sense it's hard to match everything in a book, especially since they're two different media!

Anyway I've added it in my list will tell you when I see it (hopefully before I die )

I've never been one to expect movies to be just like the book, I understand their trying to cram a whole books worth of information into an hour and a half, maybe two hours, so many things will be dumped just to get to the important plot points.

Indeed! The best is to have both experiences in my opinion. Series also are great, but they still have to drop a lot of points

Exactly. I really feel like nothing beats the book. But I like immersing myself in it. lol

I see those as two points of views anyway, but I do agree that books are more powerful... or maybe it's our own imagination ?

Even imagination, if strong enough, can become reality. I've learned that the neurons that fire off in our as we are dreaming are more or less the same ones that fire off when we are awake and experiencing life. So who's to say that while we're dreaming, that we are ONLY dreaming?

Yeah I've hallucinated various, very convincing stuff (including, but not limited to: floating objects shaped and sized like tennis balls, a whole person sleeping at my side, sort of rats, crystal-clear voices) that can last a few seconds to a few minutes while I wake up suddenly by night. Trying to touch visual objects immediately banishes them, because my brain finally sees it's being tricked somewhere haha (contradictory senses), but it's really fun and I like when it happens (also I wasn't under any kind of influence when it happened in the past)

If you want something to exist enough, it'll end up existing for you
