Description The Superb fairywren ( Malurus cyaneus) belongs to the Australian passerine bird family Maluridae. They’re similar to wrens, but not closely related to them. The three genus are insectivores. The female Superb fairywren has a brown plumage.

Der Prachtstaffelschwanz ( Malurus cyaneus) gehört zu den Australischen Sängern (Maluridae), einer Sperlingsvogelfamilie, die Zaunkönigen ähneln, jedoch nicht näher mit ihnen verwandt sind. Die drei Gattungen sind Insektenfresser. Weibliche Prachtstaffelschwänze tragen ein braunes Gefieder.

I never thought watching someone on DA would be educational From time to time i learn about new animal species from your paintings. It's great you put the latin name in the description so i can even find out how the bird is called in my own language

I'm glad I can help making a few species a little more popular! Adding the latin name is something I just got used to after studying biology for a few semesters.

I have a loooong list of wonderful, bizarre and incredible creatures I want to paint one day. I hope I can show even 1% of them!

I love this! You totally captured the personality of the wren with its tail. I loved the little brush of blue you added to the edge of the chest. Great job!

I knew it had to be a wren without even seeing the title, that tail tells the tale! It's funny how wrens stick their tails straight up and bob up and down with a little "Whe! Whe! Whe!" of a call. Atleast ours do that, but they're not nearly as colorful. Beautiful blue colors, another great mini! (so little!)

Hehe, thanks! They're almost too cute to be true!
We have a lot of wrens over here, too. They have a lovely chestnut-brown pattern and it's lovely to watch them. They can be extremely loud, too!
The fairywrens of Australia aren't closely related to the true wrens, though, they just look similar while they developed independently (convergent evolution).
