"I don't have to kill..." Mina sneered, her white teeth gleaming in the wide smile claiming her lips. Mitexi cast volleys of swirling darkness at her ex-colleague; Mina backhanded two away before disappearing into a portal. Her voice still hissed as if she'd merely gotten closer instead of escaped. "...to make it feel that way."

There was a crack, the sickening sound of a branch being ripped away. Or, and Mitexi had heard this sound far too often to be confused, the noise wood makes as fire blackens and consumes its flesh. Mitexi shot her gaze ceiling-high, feeling her blood chill as any heat the cave offered swelled up. It was an attack she'd seen too often, felt often enough in training, and was too familiar with to believe it was being aimed at her.

It took only seconds for the fire to streak through the dim, cutting the shadows, painting the other combatants with a hellish glare. It took Mitexi just enough time to twist around, and beat the strike to its target.

~'Are you hard of hearing? I said things are different now.'~

The fire, concentrated into a shaft resembling an arrow, buried into her back, then flared, casting flame along the quickly burning fabric.

'You don't understand. We can't change our fates, and mine is to disappear once all four keys are assembled before Kingdom Hearts.'~

Mitexi fell against Riku, tensing from the pain she couldn't bear to see hit him instead. Her decision was illogical, foolish in the face of her earlier arguments and callous remarks. Yet, Mitexi doubted she wouldn't have defied her role just to do it again...

If she could ever have the chance to do it again...

Omigosh, I'm totally just giving away parts of my story, but if I didn't post this commission, I was going to lose it.

Eventually, this will be part of a whole chapter, in line with the rest of "Destiny's Threads of Fate," but until then... ^-^
