So you know who she looks like? She looks like a female version of the pre-set male fighter character, Aluxes, from RPG Maker XP! Here, let me give you an example, it may not look EXACTLY like her now that I look at it again, but it just reminds me of it so much. i.gyazo.com/ed5479d8bc4d6728f6…

Yeah, to be honest, I sorta remembered him looking a tad different in that aspect, but regardless, I love this picture so much! The only pet peeve I have (and this is with all heroes I see in media) is that once again, she uses a sword...its never a spear or an axe or something different ya know? Dont worry, thats not a knock against the character, just a twitchy pet peeve is all lol!

Oh no no no, I know that, im not holding anything against you, the pic, or swords. I admit, I LOVE swords, but just as though you tell me that swords are popular for a reason, this also comes with its own flaws, because spears and axes and flails and other weapons have all these opportunities to be cool, in both normal and over the top ways, and yet nobody wants to deviate from their comfort bubble (no offense to you of course). Id love to continue this topic later if you had the time, which I doubt you do TBH lol, what with your art and such.
Im going to leave you with this, while I understand that swords are your favorite medieval weapon, have you considered looking at why other weapons like Halberds, or perhaps different styles like mounted combat are just as cool in their own right?
And to be on topic with this art piece, your art style is my favorite kind of style, the "HD" style as I call it. Not the specific way its drawn, but the physical QUALITY of the colors, textures, and more.

Oh, don't worry, I am not offended. I am just not shy concerning opportunities to debate topics of interest.
I often find people make comments about how artists should try representing different subjects/content than what they do, and I feel that the pointing finger should be turned around to the critic. Instead of telling someone else what they should make, do the "making" yourself. Be the change you want to see. Instead of focusing on how some things are more popular than others (and thus make that other content under-represented in your opinion), I think it would be better to contribute what you want to see, rather than try to convince someone else (who is creating what they like) to do something different. I learned to draw so I could bring forth the visions in my head, not so I could cater to everyone who may look at them.
For me, it's not about "staying in my comfort bubble", as you put it. It's about being true to my own interests. Something is "cool" to different people for different reasons. It's not my responsibility to consider why everything under the sun is cool to anyone else under the sun. Granted, I value looking at things from the perspective of others, as that's obviously (and wonderfully) insightful. But at the end of the day, I have my own preferences, and that's what I work to create in my art (unless paid to do otherwise haha).
All that said, I'll sometimes deviate from my favorite sorts of topics/subjects, or content. One can't have their favorite dish, every meal, or it will lose it's luster! It's important to explore, as a creative person, to keep things fresh. However, when it comes to my profession, I have found that I am more successful if I keep my content focused on specific subjects (sexy elves, anyone? lol). So in regards to making a living (for my business model, at least), exploration is something that must be done in careful moderation. It's all very complicated, but it's also very simple. I draw what I like, and I try to attract an audience that also likes that content. I try to keep my main flow of content fitting with the subject matter my audience wants to see (and expects), and I sprinkle in a nice little variation, here and there, to keep things fresh. I pay attention to the overall reaction, and I adjust accordingly, always leading with my own tastes, as first consideration.
I am glad you enjoy my work. I appreciate the compliments, and I am not at all bothered at the opportunity to debate.

Right, and although your last bit of text at the end saved this for me, I felt like my words were poorly said. Its not that I demand that people do things that arent done alot just because, I would rather the artist (such as you for example) focus on their interests, so if you want to draw a bunch of swordsmen then do that, I just personally wish I could see more variation because I suck at art and il never improve no matter how hard I try. And by no means do I claim that "staying in your bubble" is how EVERYONE is, I just feel like I needed to express it in a rough and blunt way.
In any case, im glad to have spoken to you, like I said, and heres a fun fact, now that im helping someone work with a paid project online, I might FINALLY have money to use online for commissions, which is a GODSEND for me, seriously ive gone years with no money, having to scrape by with art requests if im lucky.
And on one minor and hilarious note: Your sexy art is amazing, especially ones with an exposed midriff (my personal favorite sexy part) <3

Hey, no worries at all. I know that you didn't mean to come off as to say these things, deliberately. I am just saying how they sound, from my end. Different perspective and all that.
Awe, you could improve if you wanted to. Desire is the key, trust me. I used to suck really bad. Couldn't draw a thing. But I REALLY wanted to, enough to practice several hours every day, for years and years... You can't avoid improvement, if you do that. Art isn't magic. It's a science. A skill to be developed. Just like Bob Ross says.
Regardless of that, I respect it if you don't want to put in the time. But that does mean your only option is to consume what others are making, and voice your preferences, in hopes a creator will listen... or of course, pay them to listen. XD
Hey, that's cool that you are getting a better financial situation! Both for yourself, and for the artists you choose to hire. I am not open very often for commissions, these days, but there's lot of great artists out there, looking for work. I am sure your contribution will be most appreciated.
Hehe glad you like the sexy stuff! I used to avoid midriffs, because they were hard. But I like em, so I endeavored to learn! Glad I did that bit of experimentation.

Heheh! I guess my last thoughts for now are that while im sure I could certainly improve, the problem then is that I dont know what my style would be, and I cant just declare what that is either, it has to come naturally I gather.
Just a note, im not poor, I just dont wanna beg my mother to get me a paypal for random internet crap, especially when some of it can potentially be a bit lewd. No im not some sleazy loser who "loves in his mothers basement", shes still a dominant force for me atm and even as a 19 year old young man, she probably wouldnt want me to spend a dime on certain things (not all of which are lewd mind you, but im just trying to respect her household and rules, as a good kid).
Now, as for midriffs? I like it when they can go from toned but noticeably flat, to even straight up battle babe abs!

I don't make any judgement in regards to living conditions. I have been homeless myself, for many years, and worked hard the whole time. People might have thought I was lazy, but I spent most of my time on the job, doing roofing or tree work, or other various labor jobs, to try and make ends meet. The world is hard. Having family to help you when you need it, especially when you are getting started in your life's journey, is a blessing.
Concerning style, yes, it certainly is something that comes naturally, all on it's own. You can guide it, but ultimately, it's a combination of your technique, study history/experience, and personal taste/aesthetics. So the good news is that you'll end up loving your style, once you find it, because it's naturally tailored to you... If you put the work in, that is.

Hi there! If you're interested, this lady came from a really really REALLY rough concept drawing from AGES ago: i.imgur.com/oM4FQTH.jpg
I then had another artist buddy (joshuaotero.tumblr.com/ ) refine it a lot fairly recently: i.imgur.com/hdUV7zq.jpg
And then I had RoninDude put his own spin on it (along with swapping out the buckler shield for a proper heater shield)!
So there you have it!

Heh, this only goes to show that mundane, realistically plausible armor can be awesome too. Even if I don't really mind unrealistic armor/clothes/weapon on a fantasy character.
Now, she looks pretty young... pretty and young, at any rate... and her armor shows a lot of experience in the battlefield. Why, not even her cute face escaped battle wear!
And her sword has quite a few dents near the hilt. She's one tough lady for even having to go to the battle in that armor, without a helmet ! Luckily her shield will suffice, if it can take some more abuse.
If it was my commission, I'd have her in a fight scene, surrounded by enemies or against one powerful mook. She would still win, of course !

I'm seriously gonna have to commission you to do Mirax again either another Star Wars, Or a Paladin version. This Lady Knight is awesome, love the Armor/Shield match-up, the clearly battered but reliable look of wear you have in the armor. I adore the clearly determined and fierce look she has, despite being very lovely even with the scar. The sword looks pretty darn interesting, like a cross between a saber and a cleaver.

Wow, great job with armor for sure. Love how worn it looks, and fits the blade and scar on the character. Always great seeing your fantasy artwork like this. I'm glad you had folks commissioning you for this type of stuff!
