Description This is my reflections submission for this year. This is a pelican I photographed in the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador in 2007.

First off, very beautiful capture!
I only really have one thing I could suggest about this piece;

When a bird is flying over the water, or any subject when water and a reflection is involved, the reflection becomes part of the subject. Center the bird higher in the photo, so that we see more of it's reflection. This will help balance it out and give the overall composition some weight.

Going further, centering the bird slightly to the right as well would add to it, too. When we see something flying and we know the direction it's going, our eye thinks of it actually moving in that direction. Moving the pelican's position to the right a bit makes it feel more like it has a place to fly, like it's "entering" the photo.

That's all I've got, I think. The clarity and colors are beautiful, and you have a good angle on the pelican. I know how hard it can be to capture birds. =3

Thanks for the critique! I agree with everything you said. Birds are quite finicky to photograph, and I have to admit I got quite lucky on this one

Haha, that is really tight. That is one of the most interesting birds I've ever seen.

And you went to the Galapagos islands? Amazing! *learned about it in Biology last year* lol

But, seriously, amazing shot.

Haha thank you ^^
I was sitting there at the dock for like twenty minutes and there were these two pelicans. One left and I didn't get a good shot of it but I had a feeling the next one would follow its companion soon and sure enough...it did.
