Description Another from my trip to the northern coast. I kept trying to get out to that rock to climb up on top but the tide was not cooperating.

Am I the only one noticing that the rock is shaped like a whale with its mouth open ?

This shot is great! I have read that some are complaining about the tree in the upper left hand corner... Yeah, I do that to (just happens... dont know why). I dont think its all that bad to have a tree in the corner, leeding the observer into the picture. Gives it depth, ya know! Cheers!

Thank you! Had I taken a little more time with the shot I could have moved and not had the tree in there. But, like nature, I am imperfect

I'm glad you like it

wow that is excellent. Love the way the tree seems to be clambering to life and the composition.
One crit though, the leaves at the top left don't work IMO. They create edge tension the way they take attention, but don't really do anything.
They also contradict the flow of the rest of the composition. It'd be good if you had cropped them.

Really impressive shot though.
if you ever go back it'd be nice to see late afternoon / early morning light, or on the off chance you are there with a bright moon a long exposure shot in the dark

Well done.

Now that is a cool photo. Who would have thought that a tree could even grow there! I'd love to see where all the roots go.... hmmmm got any of those x-ray filters on your camera ha..ha.. now that would be really cool!

Exactly. I wonder where the dirt comes from? Wouldn't the wind blow it away before it can take hold? Who knows. The tree really had to work hard to survive up there.

I'm glad you like the photo

The first day we camped, I didn't even see this because of the light. Next morning I got up and the sun was shining directly on it; I was like "WOW!" I clambered over on the rocks but the tide had already come in too much for me to get to it
