This fight I've been wanting to see forever since I got done with both series. They have similar demeanors, skills and adventures. They should be in the ring against each other.Gene Starwind, the main protagonist of Outlaw Star against Spike Spiegel, the main protagonist of Cowboy Bebop

Interesting idea. Spike fights hand to hand more, but Gene has a much better weapon, but both think on their feet a lot when they need to, though his plans don't always work as well as Spike's do, plus while he did manage to come up with a plan that worked against Suzuka, definitely more dangerous hand to hand fighter than Spike, he needed time to prepare in advance for it, and prep time would mean bring in the crews of both ships, and that would basically mean Gene could probably just let Suzuka and Aisha do all the work. That said, Spike trying to kill means he'll more likely just use his gun, which is pretty much just a regular gun, so he might inadvertently play to Gene's advantages, since hand to hand is usually what he resorts to if he wants his target alive.

Gene wins with or without the Cater gun. He goes head to head with guys that would eat Vicious for breakfast. Gene is faster, stronger, and more adaptable.

What show were you watching? I wish Gene was that competent because the Gene Starwind I know is a posing coward who runs away all the time and gets space sick. Without his caster gun, Gene is nothing. Aisha and Suzuka do most of the actual fighting for him

Direct quote from Gene, himself. He's a pussy. The only reason he can accomplish anything is because of that caster gun. Without the caster gun, just about any real bad ass could kick Gene's ass. Show me a scene in Outlaw Star where Gene beats up like 20 guys without getting hit once. If they had the same technology, Spike would butcher Gene. He's a way better fighter, way smarter and most importantly doesn't run away from fights like a coward

I ask you questions and give you reasons as to why Gene is a wimp and you just ignore them, saying that Gene of all people could handle people firing at him with guns with just a knife. I've seen Outlaw Star, Gene so isn't that bad ass. Suzuka and Hilda sure but certainly not Gene

The fact is Gene could kill anybody Spike has dealt with pretty easy.
And if Spike tried going head to head with any Gene ran away from he would get killed.

opps, made a mistake for Suzuka. I mean she's almost bad ass. More bad ass than Gene sure but apparently she needs a clock to tell when to kill someone because of some stupid gimmick and the big trick to defeating her is untying her dress (LAME)

I doubt Gene is faster. Spike is pretty quick. And he's better in hand-to-hand combat. Gene's only hope is in long range.

Pleas Gene goes Head to head with people, who can cut an F-ing bus in half with a wooden sword. Yes Spike is pretty quick but Gene is considerably quicker. Look I can see Spike being a better character, but in a fight he is simply out classed by Gene.

If you're referring to "Twilight" Suzuka, then from what I recall, Gene was running away for most of the fight.
Gene has better technology, but not better melee skills.

By melee skills yes Spike is a genuine marshal artist wile Gene is just a street fighter however Spikeβs reflexes arenβt any better than Geneβs so Spike likely gets shanked wen it come to hth combat.
Gene has to deal with Suzuka level opponents thought-out Outlaw Star and still manages to come out of the series alive, you canβt say the same fore Spike and Cowboy Bebop.

Spike's final fate was left open and interpreted by the viewer. The creator of the show said so himself. And Gene toppled most of his opponents by using guns and spaceships, not hand-to-hand. Not to mention Spike usually fights solo while Gene has help from Jim (and sometimes others) the majority of the time keeping track of which shells to use in his gun.
I like Gene and Spike equally. Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop were two of my more liked shows growing up. But next to Spike, Gene just can't compare in terms of hand to hand combat. At medium to long range, however, Gene would likely have a distinct advantage. In terms of firepower in both guns and ships. If Gene isn't forced up close, he'd be the likely winner.

Makes sense. Spike and Gene seemed similar enough, that's why I put them in the ring with each other. And you're right, Gene seems to depend on outside assistance more than Spike does.
