PERSONALITY:

As a fawn: Lucy is completely unlike either of her parents, and even her two siblings... There is something unsettling about her and the way her gaze follows you wherever you go. Maybe it's because she is totally devoid of any sound whatsoever- even her movements are silent- so her presence is almost eerie and ghost-like. Her mind is sharp, and she picks up on things very quickly for a fawn. Though she can't voice her interests, she does seem extremely curious about everything around her. This curiosity manifests itself in peculiar ways... Mostly in the habit she has of watching things closely as they die, and the way she doesn't shy away from the distant howls of starving wolves, or the cries of their prey in the night. All in all, she is a very strange filly.

Present Personality: Since leaving her home and her family, Lucy is more solitary and a bit more weary of others. She has slowly been discovering her Formchanger magic, which is frightening to experience without a mentor to guide her. She is pessimistic, careful, and at times very sad and lonely. She seldom seeks out the company of others on her own, but is not opposed to it if others seek her out, though her lack of speaking ability often makes it hard to connect with anyone...

APPEARANCE: A tad on the short side, but that only serves to make her even cuter. She has large, bright brown eyes and long legs. Her coat is a dark charcoal color that lightens around her belly and is spotted with silvery dapples. Her mane is thick and wild, sprouting in all directions and refusing to lay flat. She can never seem to keep it tame. As she grows, she might start wearing bits of bone in it.

HISTORY: Lucy's birth was extremely dramatic. Her mother was malnourished during her pregnancy, which isn't strange for Blackwoods, but Herona's biggest mistake was deciding to have another fawn at all. Her body did not have adequate time to recover from her previous two fawns- who were born back to back- and so there wasn't much left that she could do for Lucy. Lucy was born small and somewhat sickly, but her health was the least of her mother's concern... Her birth went wrong from the start. For such a small fawn, the birth was long and excruciating. And there was far too much blood. Herona immediately knew something was wrong. Worried, she sent Amber back to the den to get Hades. She was relieved when her fawn began to bleat, but that relief soon turned to panic as she heard the first excited howl deep in the forest that meant the wolves had caught scent of the blood. Lucy cried and cried, and her bewildered bleats only told the wolves exactly where to go. Losing energy and strength fast, Herona knew she would not be able to fight them off if they found her. She would only have the ability to kill Lucy if the wolves came- she would not allow herself to die knowing that her daughter would have such a painful death. So, as the pack began to close in, Herona silenced her daughter's loud wails with her magic. She cursed her beloved daughter with silence...

The next thing Herona knew was waking many days later in the den of a skilled healer. She had very nearly been lost. The healer made sure Herona knew that any future fawn might kill her. But no one would ever know what happened to Lucy. She was simply born mute. But her family learned to live with it; everyone was only happy she had survived. Lucy remembers nothing of that day.

-- Year 768 Lucy has been learning what it takes to live in Blackwood and sticking close to her family's den for the most part. It's getting easier and easier to communicate without words, and very soon she may begin to stray farther and farther from her parents in order to explore the haunted world around her...

Year 771 Frustrated by her inability to communicate with anyone around here and feeling detached from herself, Lucy gets into a fight with her mother and accidentally breaks Herona’s precious shrine to her firstborn. Destraught, Lucy flees her home. She has had to fend for herself ever since and has become an independent, lonesome doe.
