Yeah, I have a hard time telling boy bands apart, too. The only one I ever really got into was the Jonas Brothers, but that was because I really love their music. Took me some time to actually become interested in the boys themselves, but even then it was just enough for me to tell which boy was which.

Reminds me of the time McFly came to my 'college' (the school after middle school but it was called a 'college' before we reached 16 and were allowed to not wear the uniforms.) for a radio recording thing because an official radio team came, and I knew they were a thing but I'd never heard their music nor was interested in them unlike everybody else in the school.
So I guess that's like me being ace as well. Just "That's a thing. OK. Can I go and sit in the library now? I don't care for this. It's deafening."
I guess I can say 'Yay I saw a McFly concert for free'? I was more into X JAPAN at the time honestly.

Not really, could also mean you were a tomboy, or simply not interested in boysband.

I'll be honest, the only boyband member I can pick out of a crowd onsight and actually name is Justin Timberlake, and that's only because one of my fellow troop members in Girl Scouts was so obsessed with him that she drove me up the wall.

Yeah, my friends were giggling because I had no idea which boy band member was which or which boy band they belonged to too. It's... kinda nice to see someone else had the same problem.

I still presented male back in high school so I wasn't in these conversations directly, but I overheard other girls talking about boy bands and spent a lot of time wondering what the big deal was...

I've never been a huge music listener, so for me, this scenario wasn't a boy band, but the Lord of the Rings movies. Every girl I was consistently around or cared about, including my mother, had a massive crush on Aragorn and/or Legolas. Mostly Legolas.
Me? I was all: "This is a great story!"

We can't deny that Legolas has a beautiful mane, but not as beautiful as the story.

I don't know if you're familiar with the comic strip "FoxTrot", but geek cartoonist Bill Amend may have put it best: he titled one of his compilation books "Orlando Bloom Has Ruined Everything".

For me it was the Jonas Brothers. Or really any celebrity male singer.
"I like his singing voice."
"But do you think he's hot?"

Same here. Dont really think of the artists for any one song I like, I pay more attention to the music. Only exceptions being if I like a lot of songs one artist has made are ones I happen to like.
