Description Wow. I actually got some artwork up. Must be the apocalypse in my books. *looks wishfully to see Great Cthulhu*
I've been terribly busy, frustrated, and stressed lately, not to mention my drawer's block has returned thanks to all that. The university works have demanded a lot, and that pretty much kills my inspiration. Even now it's actually wonder I got this up because I'm sick (damn flue...). But thanks to HPLHS's wonderful radio theatre CD of "Dunwich Horror", I had some inspiration to get work to do, even if it is ather small one.

I actually drew this few years ago, during this time of year and after playing lots of Thief: Deadly Shadows (it has its moments). The Kurshok beings in the game are pret-ty Innsmouthian-nish, don't you think? Anyway, I somehow felt sorry for the beings, and out of that came this little fellow; Garyid. A young Kurshok with a sad fate, his life possibly forever tied to the dark underworld realm of his kind. His is a sorrowful destiny to witness the withering of the Kurshok in their once beautiful halls now crumbling with decay, and he can only wonder if they will ever find hope in this forgotten, sunken realm where ancient gods sleep.

I chose to colour this because I really had wanted to colour it for years, and because I was in the mood for sorrowfulness at the time ^^" The background is a screenshot from Thief: Deadly Shadows I took myself.

Comments and constructive criticism and advices are more than welcome.

Heh, thank you ^^ Hopefully, if inspiration hits (it's been lacking a lot thanks to my suddenly renewed, extremely bad flue), I'll draw a happier pic of him. Perhaps.

Finally... I thought I am the only one who draw these creatures, yet started to doubt about my own normality.
Very cute fry. Let he do not break down; he'll became a real warrior and knock all the strangers into the middle of next week.

Lol, hey, even the Kurshok deserve to be drawn XD I actually kinda like their remote Lovecraft-iness ^^"

Thank you ^^ I am pretty sure Garyid will become a good warrior when he's old enough. He'll find his place eventually

Btw, I see you have some pretty artworks up, looks great ^^

Yeah, I've been really busy lately (damn lectures). Well, one more test to go, then I should have a breather and work more on the things I need to colour.
Thanks ^^

Agh, I've never liked these things... the one in the city was quite fun, but I'll always prefer the Pagans over these things

Anyway, as for the pic itself, you did a nice job on the shading. Especially the face came out well, IMHO. Just to blend in better with the background, I'd advice adding a shadow underneath him. Also when using backgrounds like this pay attention to additional light sources in them. I haven't played the level in ages but I'll assume that's a blue flame in front of him - which should cast a different kind of lighting/shading on him, especially the lower parts of his body and the face.

I actually tried to add the shadow beneath him but it never came out ok, so I left it out in frustration. As for the light sources, I've always sucked in them. I never have any clue how they should go or look like, so every time I try t oadd something like a light source effect, it's based on pure guessing (that's how much I suck in these). I at least tried. Meh.

I can't say I know 'exactly' how you feel, but I guess I understand a little (I stress a lot and I have cronic sinus illnesses) , so hang in there!
Anyways, to sum it up in one word, it looks phantasmagoric.
The lighting looks eerie yet beautifull, and it gives an effect of sadness, I guess. The way the light hits the little guy is really neat, too, but I guess it could have been a little brighter (I don't know, maybe it would have ruined the effect if it was, actually) Umm...other than that, I really, really love this. Awesome job, and I hope you feel better.

Thanks ^^ I actually have difficulties in light sources, so it's nice to hear my guess-work here did work at least in some level. I actually wish to draw more of Garyid in the future, so maybe that will bring some practise in lighting (considering he *does* live in an underworld city with only crystals and flames lighting the place).

Thank you very much. Oh, and I'm starting to get little better from my fluem I hope to get rid of it within few more days
