I love this her eyes show such sadness and her hands look like they might have been covered in blood which she tries to wash of but couldn't but the blood around her fingernails off.

Her face is so realistic and full of emotion, it's beautiful! And I like how real and worn her hands are, it makes the whole painting look real, not just daintilly sad like so many pictures are.

WOW She is absolutely beautiful. I love the colors and the look on her face. I am a mermaid fanatic and she is deffinately in my top five faverite mermaid drawings.

I know you're already a successful and talented artist, but here's my two-cents worth of praise anyway.
A lot of artists here make beautiful fantasy art, but not many of them can draw or paint faces that really appeal to me, but this one does... Too often fantasy women look like busty Barbie models to me. Painting faces is an art in and of itself, I believe. It's in the details; the strand of hair by her mouth, the redness of her nose and the highlight on the tip, the colour of the water and of her hair. Things like that. The medium of acrylics on stretched canvas seems to like you - you should spend more time with it!

It's really lovely. i love your work. I love the skin tones I can never get the colours of skin right with paint they either end up orange or pink it's like ARGGGGH!

I was suprised at how the skin turned out, I only used three colours on it... paynes grey, brown earth and napthol red light. (These are jo sonyas acrylics by the way! lol! I don't have any fancy artists ones. Oh, cept the paynes grey is Reeves... an even cruddier brand).
Anyway, if you can find those colours or similar you can try out that combination for your skin tones.

I was going for a semi-backlit affect with the hair... like how really dark auburn hair can look black in the shadows, but bright reddy brown in the sun

wow. This is such a gentle application of acrylic. Your use of pinks in the skintones is very delicate, almost like an airbrush in how well it's blended. The brushwork on the hair and waves works perfectly, and doesn't clash at all with the soft blends. Great representation of a figure, as well.
