Description Can I just say how proud of myself I am on this entry? Recently I have really been looking back at my art and trying to improve in the areas I’ve always struggled in. Lighting has been a HUGE struggle for me in the past, and I really tried to work on that in this image. After multiple weeks of working on this I was very ready to be able to show it to everyone haha.

Eden had been avoiding her aunt like the plague after the last hunter show. Her confidence was crushed. How was she supposed to do this? The trials? She was looked to as a representative of not only her barn, but to show off how impressive the Australian Warmblood breed was. She couldn’t even walk into a local ring at this point without almost having a panic attack due to stress. She was so scared. Standing in front of the hunter ring, half frozen with fear as she looked at the pair in the arena.
Where was Archer?
She hadn’t seen him in a while. He was supposed to be here. She was next up and one of the three people who had stayed completely supportive of her through the findings and impact of the accident. She stared over at the bleachers once more, searching for archer. Then her eyes went bad to the arena. Feeling as if she was a million miles away, her foot tapping against the ground anxiously and a numb feeling overcoming her.
“Eden, let’s get you on Junee..” her aunt said, walking over and giving her a leg up onto the mare. She sat there, white as a ghost. Something just wasn’t feeling right. How could Archer not be here?
She let out a shaky breath, eyeing the crowd and seeing Lola and Ryker standing near the fence, cameras in hand. She refused to look down at her trainer, her aunt. She knew if she did her confidence would crumble in that instant, or the little bit of confidence she still had. She looked at the arena, trying to push away the feeling of betrayal. Was she overreacting? The new fear chewed at her, her stomach churning. Junee turned her head back, the shiny and braided mare sniffing her rider’s foot for a moment before turning back ahead, yawning and chewing aimlessly at the bit. She was content, that’s all that mattered.. right? She was the one who was supposed to look good in the ring after all.
Soon enough it was their turn. Eden looked around, watching around 5e arena once more, trying to spot archer. There had to be a reason why he wasn’t here. He said he was running back to grab his phone. Maybe he can’t find it? Come on archer..
taking a deep breath she walked into the arena, picking up a trot at the gate. She trotted half a circle then smoothly picked up a canter, gathering themselves into a beautiful and unified pair. The sun streamed into the arena and for a slip second she was okay. Junee’s calmly stride rocked her back and forth in the saddle. She was okay.
But archer. Where was he?
Her silent calmness was shattered at the idea. She stared ahead at the jump, Junee confidently striding towards it. She tried to speed up but with a slight change of seat and less leg Eden naturally pulled the horse back, looking calm as they easily took the jump that was along the rail. She heard whispers, and oddly enough she realized she was actually listening to the crowd. Their whispers, the occasional snort of a horse, Belle holding her breath.
The third jump was going to be a killer for most people. You had to stick to the north arena fence, take a tight turn into a jump that was maybe a few strides away from the rail and hope your horse caught a nice distance. And if they didn’t, you better hope they can clear it just as easily from a long distance or very short one. Junee liked to take long strides, and the last thing Eden wanted was for her and the mare to accidentally go crashing through. Turning away from the rail, she spotted the second jump, keeping her seat in the saddle she waited.
One… two… three… wait- one more… and up. Junee took the jump in a blink of an eye, and if anyone was lucky enough to catch the specific moment, the mare practically looked asleep over it, her eyes closed. But on the landing, she had to wake back up.
They went to the fence immediately, following it around to the corner that connected the west rail with the north where they took a turn, bumped tightly against the north fence, and then turned half way down the short strided area towards the third jump. She sat back, shortening Junee’s strides just a bit until they safely took the fence.

The sun shined behind them.
The rays interrupting the darkly lit area.
The mare had her eyes wide open now, ears fixed ahead as they originally had been fixed on the boomerang that now was passing under her as she traveled directly over it.
But Eden was looking down.
But still, very good, a clean jump that looked at least as good as the others.

They took the rest of the course steadily, safe over every jump but each time Eden looked down just to make sure. They trotted from the ring, an applause following them. Miss belle walked up, a slight frown.
“Where is your head Eden? Because it wasn’t in that arena just now.” She spoke quickly and quietly, each word like a lash.
“You plan on going to college for this sport but yet, you can’t pay attention to one of the most important shows of the year. You’ve been practicing for months! What made you so worried that you looked down throughout your course? Junee was jumping wonderfully, you were behind the motion. You looked down. Do you not remember the last show? I told you to look up three times before you entered the arena. I figured I didn’t need to remind you here as well. Take care of your horse.” She spoke, then turned and walked off.
Eden was shocked, she watched Belle, her expressions unchanging and just so shocked she had no clue what she was even supposed to do.
Ryker and Lola walked up, grins on their faces as they congratulated bUt their words never reached her netted ears.
“Where is Archer?”

This has to be one of your best works yet! Not only the composition is impressing, especially taking into account you struggles with lightining - but the whole scene is just awesomeness and epicness in its purest form

First, the pose you picked. Junee looks like such an unstoppable powerhouse - I swear, you can feel her stretching over the jump! Just look at those legs! And, of course, your delightful shading: Junee is a super pretty horse on her own right, but I'm never going to get tired of those rich red shades <3 Super good job on the light as well! You've created such a beautiful ambience, and the improvement is definitely there!

As for the story... Well, this brings a whole new meaning to troubles in paradise, am I right? Poor Eden, though... Anxiety is one hell of a bitch when it gets going, and keeping together a relationship and a, uh, rocky patch with your mentor is a lot to take on! Definitely explains what happened over with Lilli and Junee, which - of course - only makes me want to know more!
