The bulk of this took 7 hours, one sitting, on sunday. (my ass hurts.) But! I tell myself: So you're going to ship this one off eh? You're not going to think about it? Aren't you going to sit on it a few days like a good artist and think it through?
Well. That didn't work too good. About 5 hours of pen fiddling I finally decided yep, I'm done. All I did was put in a couple of lines and retexturing the back wall >_> Looking at this, I think, what about all those mistakes? I let them go, I decided I would love this picture, mistakes and all. It turned out pretty good, considering I was just trying to make a dev Id, again. Then I scare myself with this monster. I'm pretty scared of myself right now. There's no reason on earth I should be doing this. Yet, though, atleast there are enough mistakes that I'm not totally insane. Maybe now I'll let it seep in and enjoy it. v_v
Oh, I know it started out as a portrait ^-^ Then I slap myself, how many portraits you have in your gallery!? Do something different woman! Too many dogs! Too many headshots! All my ideas, they aren't explained! Who am I! What am I? I guess for now I am into technology. ^^
Last note: Thank you very much Marona for helping me see things that weren't seen : ) Although I couldn't fix them, it was very useful to me. I hold all those things in the future. Maybe someday I will look back at this and chuckle. Maybe someday I will revamp it, I don't know, but right now I like it ^^

I think this is really lovely!! I also think doing it in one sitting benefited this painting - it retains a lot of energy, which is something that usually dies when a painting is worked on for an extended period of time. So I am glad you did it in one sitting.

Yes, that happens a lot xD I think it might be because when we care about something less, it becomes more "honest" or raw - because we're not thinking/overthinking it like we would on a longer painting. For me, I think these types of paintings exhibit more about the artist's soul, and are a lot more powerful than paintings that are technically perfect but souless and dead. Sorry if that sounds cheesy, don't know any other way to put it. xD
That being said, I think your piece both has a lot of soul but is also technically very strong.

i would certainly love to see the rest of it. i can see what you mean. if you do make a full body sometime and you put half of the detail into it that you put into this, it would definitely get my Fav too!

xP I think you'd really enjoy some of the people in my art class. Plus my teachers are awesome, and scary. They see right through you and ask you directly about your problems. I think if you'd ask them, they would probably say they've tried to draw everything under the sun..

I like teachers like that, though...it shows that they care.
I think most people can see that something might be wrong, but only a few are willing to ask about it.
& there's no penalty for trying...good luck to anyone with that ambition though.

Fantastic job there, you continue to amaze me with your improvement. The detailing and textures are very good as usual, I really love that little bit of blue reflected light on his fur and the sharpness of the head in relation to the body. The one thing that strikes me most is the atmosphere of the outdoor indoor environment. You've really captured that well with the lighting and the hinting of a window with a face pressed up against it.
Overall, wonderful. My only critique is that the body in the mid ground might be too blurred. My recommendation is to gradate the blur, having the part of the body closest to the head in a slightly sharper focus than the part receding away from the viewer.
