My nuclear nightmare...Every now and then this bad dream returns to me.
Usually I find myself somewhere around the place where I was born. I'm alone or with people I've not seen before doing ordinary stuff, then the huge rockets come flying by and soon after the mushrooms appear...closer and closer.
Sometimes I run, sometimes I let the blast and the waves of particles and radiation hit me as I know I've no chance of escaping. I can swear I am able to feel the heat of the blast in my dreams.
The scene changes from each dream but the nukes and their destruction don't...
This is the first time in my life that I paint something from my dreams or nightmares..and it felt kinda weird doing so..
Painted over less than an evening, reference used for face.

Interesting in that I have had a dream like this several times. There is a distant nuclear blast and I am watching it realizing that The End is what I am seeing.

I grew up during the Cold War and I had such dreams from time to time as well.

I had dreams where russian nukes were falling in my mom's backyard, only to find out each bomb was gilled with vodka. It was weird.

I guess there are lots of people that have these dreams, me being one. I keep seeing the same thing: a lone plane flies overhead, probably 30,000 feet. Then the sirens start going off, the tv showing the president trying to inform the nation on what's happening, then static, followed by silence. Then a blinding white flats that lasted a few seconds, bright enough to make the sun appear black. I run for my house, then I lose all feeling, and the paint burns off the house. A second later, I find myself screaming from searing heat, then pitch black, in my room, sitting up in bed, still screaming. The first night it happened, my parents were crying in the living room, watching an inform the public thing about nuclear warfare. I think that dream is a sign of what's coming... Armageddon.

Just becuse it happend in your dream doesn't mean its a sign that its going to happen.

I suppose I am not the only one either. I have dreams like this quite frequently in my home town. There is a weapons/navel base located right next to it. And I always dream of those bombs falling and the mushroom clouds forming...

This reminds me of a dream I had a few months ago. We got involved in a terrible war and some of the American citizens were sent to some U.S. owned islands in the Gulf of Mexico by the military. We saw mushroom clouds in the distance and then the huge wave of heat that hit us. It felt so real, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has dreamed of something like this!

Its your dream, you'd know best. I had a similar dream once... well actually two, one in which my hometown actually got nuked; and the other... was worse... Earth was invaded, it wasn't like any 'War of the Worlds' movie where humanity has a chance to fight back.
I was in NYC, close to central park. There were bodies lying everywhere in the streets littered with holes, there weren't any planes in the sky, or even those streeking clouds they make sometimes when they fly past. Across central park, a mammoth machine walked in. It was leveling the entire city with a missile barrage, to make way for new construction. There were no fighters attacking it, no soldiers running around trying to stop them. In the back of my mind I knew they were dead... this was a global phenomenon. Humanity was just a small pest problem in the midst of an intergalactic urban sprawl. I managed to scramble down an open manhole into the sewers as the machine began to rip the buildings down around me.

Wow, that was amazing! Whoever launched really wanted this area destroyed. Two explosions plus an additional eight near target; they really did not like whoever was here.

I made a scenario that if the human race ever went into a nuclear war a small portion of the human race would be smarter than the rest and begin a mass exodus of millions and flee to Mars in preparation of such a disaster. The idea formed into a story i've been planning, though i don't think many people would agree of what i thought about what to do.

Let's just hop nuclear war never happens in the future. My estimation of when a nuclear war would ever happen would be around the (2045-2060) time period maybe.

this is perfect, just perfect. i was looking for an image like that for years, i have a dream that is similar to your dream, but instead of waking up after the explosions hit me, i'm still alive, just standing there, from where i am i see the destruction that happened and i see something moving in the destruction, after i see this strange movement i wake up, i dont know what is causing this movement but i know its there in the dream. i would like to use your image for a youtube channel that my friend is going to make, i will modify it a little by adding the name of the channel, is it ok to you?

Wow, that was a touching story. I mean I sometimes worry that whatever luck that kept us from pushing the big button would run out, but never once did I dream of being vaporized like that. Did it hurt?

I remember I felt no pain, but a strong sensation of surrendering all hope of coming out of the situation alive and accepting to be torn to pieces, then I'd "normally" feel the intense heat from the blast and radiation..and the emotional feeling like now is the time of the end of the world..

prior to the last comment if the storm of nuclear war does stirke if anyone survives it it won't be like fallout or metro 2033 it's going to be alot worse

the sad thing is that it looks like humanity is marching ever closer to nuclear war and probably to our own extinction
