Description A lot of balls created with mograph´s cloner object. (Cinema 4D)
Then I turned off gravity. Instead the balls have an own gravity (Force object), Which makes them behave pretty much like fluid particles.
To equip a Metaball object, it´s important to apply a mograph cache tag to the cloner and bake the sequence. Otherwise, the Metaball won´t work properly.

That´s it. The bullet is simply keyframed and has a rigid body tag to make it collide the clones.

Playing aroung with the force tags´ amount of energy and the friction of the balls makes the fluid act in different ways.
Also adjusting the bullets friction makes the particles bounce off differently. Try this yourself

I'd love to see a tutorial, i've been trying to do this for awhile, and haven't quite perfected it as displayed here.

I´m sorry but I have barely the time to create a good tutorial, soon. But the most important thing for creating "fluid" with cinema 4d is the modynamics tool. You basicly create a cloner object with a little sphere, so you get a bunch of copys. The sphere must have a rigid body tag. Turn friction and bounce to "0". For more reacting like a fluid mass, you can use a force object. It makes the "particles" (the sphere clones) attract each other, which creates kinda surface tension effect. After simulating and baking the simulation, you put the whole thing into a metaball object for creating the final fluid.
Hope that helped

Great man.. Mograph has so much potential..

With more particles this might even look better then your latest..

Keep up the good work man

Thank you very much.
I would say, I am advanced skilled. But there will be some more research and practice before I would concider me a master.
Nevertheless, I am glad you like my stuff

And also, how much time did u take to make this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sicklizard In reply to HeatR8 [2010-08-30 16:36:17 +0000 UTC]

Creating the scene was a little bit problematic. I was using a core2duo. It would have been faster on an i7 . Because of hundreds of objects, the editor was quite slow.
But I would say creating took me about half an hour. Rendering took about 5 hours.

Looks good, more like half frozen gelatin though instead of fluid Rob Redman of Pariah did a tutorial some time ago about using metaballs as a fluid

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

sicklizard In reply to 2753Productions [2010-08-17 16:46:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it looks like jelly. But it usually takes a fluid sim to create something like that.
From the physical aspect, even glass is a fluid that needs 10000 years to start melting.
Therefore a fluid doesn´t have to be liquid.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

2753Productions In reply to sicklizard [2010-08-19 13:45:31 +0000 UTC]

You can make it look more fluid - just check out Pariah Studio's tutorials - though you will have to have quite a powerful machine and increase the count significantly though it will never appear 'as fluid' as something like Realflow or even TurbulenceFD. This does look good though

Finally got to have a good look at this.
Great job, i love the realism of it, I bet if the bullet were to be sped up, the jelly would absolutely splatter everywhere

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sicklizard In reply to iYOSH [2010-08-17 16:38:35 +0000 UTC]

That depends on the viscosity of the "fluid" but generally yes.

Glad you like it

thats great man...is it possible with the same technique to create more stringy fluid like a paint splash?/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sicklizard In reply to DerekEmmons [2010-08-17 16:40:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes but it would need MUCH more "particles" for such kind of fluid to make it look real.
This example has about 300 clones
Thanky for your comment
