Pretty sure I commented. This stuff is like taking the animal critters of Redwall and their limited clothing/societal workings and pushing it a few steps farther. Very good sketches; very interesting material.

Cool. I can't say I've ever read Redwall, but the concept does seem to lend itself to the same sort of design issues as this project. I picked up a copy of the first book at a yard sale months ago, but haven't gotton to it yet. Do you recommend them?

I recommend them to anyone with an interest in animorphic fiction. Anyone who doesn't care one whit for good fantasy wouldn't go for these. They're just a tad on the "kiddy" side, but characters are born, grow old, and do die in battles. Excellent reading just for not talking down to anyone, despite the fact the characters are all creatures you find in the English countryside.

Sounds cool to me. I'll have to slip it into the already too long pile of books I still need to read.

Not much to add here. If only, I think he shouldn't stand too erected. In regards of the pose, I think the lower image fits the animal better.

Figuring out how these guys move is a little perplexing. With such large wings I keep feeling they would be a bit ungainly. I just want to keep his posture as birdlike as possible, but still allowing for movement that befits an active, aggressive civilization.

Ah yes, I've seen some bat footage and think I know what you mean. Sounds like an interesting idea that I could possibly incorporate. Thanks!

That's the direction I've been pushing these guys in. I can't imagine those little fingers giving much of a grip, so I see them doing a lot of tasks with their feet. You can hear me ramble about it in the original Raptorfolio post .
Thanks for so much feedback on this one. It only helps!

Yes, indeed. Caracaras are pretty aggressive birds.

nice sketches, but I'm not getting a very strong sense of their culture, or how they move and interact with their environment, their diet? The way the head dresses are worn seems pretty interesting, but not really developed. They seem to be the only item of make that they wear (presumably some sort of class status?), but they just feel like they're there. They don't feel like they're a part of their society. They also seem to be the only use of string, but then, why have string in the first place if they only have one use?
I'm seeing a lot of what they look like, but not what they are.

Yea, you're definitely right. This is early stuff, and I was mainly working out these guy's ataomony and appearance. I'll be uploading more as I finish them, detailing more about their culture. If you are interested, here's my original post where I describe more about what I'm thinking for their society and such...

They'll be using their feet a lot. They're definitely stronger than their little hands.
