Description
A Digimon born from information from a paleontology database, it seems to be clumsy in the air, but can exhibit lightning-fast movement when necessary. Its main weapons are its sharp teeth and the claws on its wings, through which it can project electricity to shock its foes as it attacks.
Overall Family: Nature Spirits/Wind Guardians
- Stage: Rookie
- Type: Dinosaur
- Attribute: Data
- Digivolves from: Flaplingmon
- Digivolves to: Harpactomon

Origin: Peteinosaurus , a genus of medium-sized pterosaur from the late Triassic Period. The name means "winged reptile", derived from the Greek peteinon meaning "winged" and saurus meaning "lizard" or "reptile".

Well, this is a little unexpected, isn't it? I'm not going to sugarcoat or disguise that this is nothing more than an April Fool's Day pic, which I drew in less than a day just for the occasion - I'm not abandoning my Pokémon obsession at all, don't get me wrong! Digimon has however captivated my childhood almost as much as Pokémon has, and the first two series especially have a nostalgic soft spot in my heart. So you might think this is just a one-off specifically for today, but in fact I've been planning on a fan-made Digipartner line I'd consider ideal for a while now and I guess now's as good a time as any to showcase at least one member of it. The original name of this Digimon was Dimorphomon, but I found out that someone else has come up with a "Dimorphomon " already, so I had to change it at literally the last moment. Thank goodness Peteinosaurus is considered to be closely related and even looks similar enough to Dimorphodon to be worth consideration!
This also kinda sorta counts as my take on the "fakemon persona" meme with an April Fool's twist of course. My persona as a fakemon would be literally just a Skarmory because, well, the first time I ever saw that amazing design I went "This is it. This is my spirit animal." I haven't had the same reaction with any of the bazillion Digimon that exist nowadays, though, so a Digimon persona made for a fun little experiment (though really, this is more akin to a Digipartner, i.e. what companion I'd have in the Digital World). The base inspiration was of course going to be my favorite animal group, and that would be the Pterosauria. So starting from the Rookie stage, this line would progress through pterosaur evolution, going from the more primitive forms like Peteinosaurus to the later, more derived ones like the azdharchids in the Mega stages. I also eschewed the stereotypical Pteranodon in part because I wanted to break the mold a tad and in part because it's already been adapted canonically in the form of Pteramon. Peteinosaurus is a better choice for a Rookie stage pterosaur-based line because of its small size and its status as one of the earliest pterosaurs known, and it only took a bit of stylization to make it look a bit like Agumon, especially because vintage artwork gave the related Dimorphodon a somewhat more dinosaur-like head than fossil evidence suggests (which carried over to Jurassic World as well). His abilities are based on wind and electricity, which are among the powers I'd like to have, and so a lot of the combat powers of this line will naturally be weather-themed.
The changes I threw in after that were largely cosmetic, to give Peteinomon a more monster-ish feel. He has a mane of feathers on the back of his head and neck and a "skirt" of them like a caveman's loincloth; these were based on the fact that the Dimorphodon in ARK Survival: Evolved has actual vaned feathers like most modern birds, rather than the hair-like scales or protofeathers that pterosaurs were known to have. I may have to simplify them later though to fit the typical Digimon style rather than detailing every single feather, however. The color scheme was also taken from the ARK Dimorphodon, being purple, orange, and red, but I thought it looked too plain, so I added patches and stripes of a light blue color to make it look more interesting. All four of these colors are some of my favorites although as a child my favorite color used to be green, so maybe from the Champion stage forward I could integrate that into the color scheme.
So that's that for this guy! Again, this is just an April Fools' pic, but I do plan to sketch the rest of the line soon enough, and maybe after I take care of the usual business I've already got, I'll start drawing other fanmade Digital Monsters, too!
