Description Hello everyone. I'm SilverEagle91. For this comparison, I'm comparing the Phineas and Ferb episodes "Rollercoaster" and "Rollercoaster The Musical". Both episodes involve Phineas and Ferb building a Rollercoaster. I actually think the sequel is better. To show why, I'll talk about: the story, the characters, the musical aspect, entertainment, and the conclusion. Let's start.

The Story:

Rollercoaster: There are two plots to this episode. The main plot involves Phineas and Ferb building a Rollercoaster. The subplot is about Doofenshmirtz building a giant magnet and using tin foil to reverse the earth's rotation. They're both executed pretty well, but I wish the runtime was longer since this episode is longer than a typical Phineas and Ferb episode.

Rollercoaster The Musical: There are two plots to this episode. The main plot involves Phineas and Ferb building a Rollercoaster again, but as a musical. The subplot involves Doofenshmirtz building a giant magnet again to reverse the earth's rotation. Both of these plots are executed well, and the 22 minute runtime allows things to be fleshed out more.

The Characters:

Rollercoaster: The characters are pretty good here. Phineas and Ferb are creative and fun loving. Candace and Doof are pretty funny. Perry is pretty slick. Isabella is pretty adorable.

Rollercoaster The Musical: Looking at the episode on its own, the characters are pretty good. The characters are the same like in the other episode, but the songs make them more unique and we get snippets of other characters' personalities, something I wish the pilot did.

The Musical Aspect:

Rollercoaster: Phineas and Ferb is a show with a song in almost every episode, which makes me curious why there wasn't one in the pilot. The background music is well done, but a song or two would be nice.

Rollercoaster The Musical: This whole episode is a musical, and like any good musical, the music moves things along. It talks about the characters, advances the plot, has a good entertainment factor, and more.

Entertainment:

Rollercoaster: The episode is fun to watch. There's some good character moments and nice chemistry, but it's not as good as it could be.

Rollercoaster The Musical: This episode is pretty fun to watch. The songs are fun to listen to, and we have all kinds of humor from references to visual gags.

Conclusion:

Rollercoaster: The conclusion is pretty good. Phineas, Ferb, and their friends have a good time riding the Rollercoaster, Doof is defeated, and Candace doesn't bust the boys.

Rollercoaster The Musical: The conclusion is pretty good. After all is said and done, we end on a good musical number that reinforces the show's theme on making the most of your time.

Winner: Rollercaster: The Musical

Here are the writers of the episodes.

Rollercoaster: Dan Povenmire & Jeff Swampy Marsh

Rollercoaster: The Musical: Dan Povenmire, Jeff Swampy Marsh, May Chan, Jennifer Keene, Martin Olson, Scott Peterson

Thanks for reading. Have a good day.

Side Note: With a few tweaks, I think Rollercaster: The Musical would've made a good pilot and left a much stronger impact due to its unique format.
