I can't be the only who noticed thisThis lends support to Starlight being an overhated character, as she gets bashed on while discord gets a free pass from the fans for doing something similar a few weeks earlier
Personally I don't have any anger towards either of them for these wrong-doings, as both are still learning the rights and wrongs of friendship and these actions lead to them learning

One could argue that this is "normal" behavior for Discord who is a bit of a manchild. Plus Discord did give Spike and Big Mac weapons.

Then again, Discord is an agent of chaos, so they all kinda expect him to do these things once in a while; plus he honestly does his best to make up for his mistakes... And the most important part; he's aware he did wrong.
Starlight is supposed to be learning from Twilight, and she keeps making these mistakes over and over again without realizing she's doing wrong until things explode on her face. That's the main difference; Discord can tell right from wrong while Starlight doesn't.

Well Starlight does her best to make up for what she did too. She even said in the episode "Hopefully, I can make it up to you, but all I can say is, I'm sorry". And when she apologizes for what she's done wrong, she's more sincere about it and openly admits she messed up. Discord has to force out an apology (With the exception of Fluttershy). And do you really expect Starlight, a pony who is incredibly socially inept, to not make multiple mistakes like this? That's really unfair, you know. Like what the description says, both of them are still learning the rights and wrongs of friendship and these actions lead to them learning.
Also the way you worded that, you make it sound like Discord can tell right from wrong but does wrong things anyway. That doesn't really help your argument because that make him look like a dick.

More like, it makes him a troll; the guy loves messing up with others. Again, Discord is the chaos lord, so he'll never stop being completely chaotic and trouble-making; maybe that's another reason why most people/ponies are more tolerant with Discord's mistakes, since they know he really can't help it, and by no longer being a villain he's already making a big effort. Starlight, on the other hand, doesn't have that excuse, and being socially inept isn't a good enough excuse to become a villain; so ponies are more severe with Starlight, ironically, because they expect better from her and know SL can actually become a fully good pony.

I wasn't saying being socially inept was her excuse to become a villain. I was saying her being socially inept is why she's making mistakes like this. She doesn't fully understand and needs to learn. And she is learning. I just don't know why everyone's so impatient with her. These things take time, you know.

I've noticed that myself. Despite Discord doing far worse things than Starlight in the past (and still doing some pretty rotten things post-reformation), the haters still give Starlight far more grief than him.

And I see no problem in excepting the and not the second. It is doubtful Discord would have let any real harm to Spike and Bag Mac but turning ponies into mind controlled puppets is another thing entirely.

But Discord is very much in the wrong for he did to Spike and Big mac. Starlight is also in the wrong for hypnotising the mane 5, she didn't mean harm and was only trying to sort out the situation in the only way she thinks can work. And in the end this serves to teach her and continue to move forward in development (And learning from his wrongs was also the case in Dungeons and Discords)

But Discord is always in the wrong, It is part of his charm. Mind control is abhorrent. Starlight was reverting to her old self. That was truly frightening.

That's because I WANTED Discord to attack Spike and Big Mac in the D&D world, but it only lasted like 1 FREAKING MINUTE!!!!

I can agree with wanting more of the real-life D&D world in the episode, but seriously... you WANT Discord to harm his supposed friend but Starlight hypnotising the mane 6 is a no-no... that doesn't make sense.
Also while Discord INTENSIONALLY created something that cause harm to them, Starlight never intended harm in what she did to the mane 5, it wasn't evil or malicious intent, she was trying to sort out the situation the only way she THINKS can work. (Again she has a grip on magic and is still learning what is socially expectable)
But in both this cases, the two characters LEARN from these mistakes

I was originally hoping most of Dungeons and Discords was going to be in the D&D world, but after watching it again I find it's still entertaining throughout with the funny interactions between the characters and the story structure worked well for the moral. Though now I would love a special entirely in Discord's D&D world

I don't know, I guess since Starlight is actually trying to be good, it's more shocking to see her do something like this. And Spike and Big Mac did end up enjoying what Discord did, which took away some of the blame.

I think it's because since everyone has seen what Discord can do, it's pretty much to normal to them at this point. But seeing STARLIGHT do it is something that they wouldn't really expect. Either way, this is still hilarious XD

Well she did show this behaviour before due to her lack of knowledge of how friendship works. An example is when she used that talk spell on big mac in no second prances
