Chen Xi Peng and his daughter are in charge of Chen style Taiji heritage. This training was a discovery training for some people like me and an improvement for some others coming from various styles or schools. All year long, training is made by Chen Xejiao, last generation of Chen style Taiji. For the birth of her grand daughter, Xi Peng come in France, and we had that unique chance to train with him.

So you don't generally train in the Chen style? I have usually found it to be quite an honor meeting and training under the few Masters through my years of training. It is quite humbling to see my own teachers train as students too.

I try to train with as many different people as I can, as often as I can. Unfortunately for me, where I live there are few opportunities to experience a wide variety of styles but I have traveled over 300 miles to attend a 2 day seminar by Dr.Yang Jwing Ming.

I am happy for you that you had this opportunity!

It was my first contact with Taiji ( any style ). I had this opportunity by our great Master Jean- Paul Bindel, he has invited us to discover this art because he his himself learning with Xuejiao Chen. She lives near Perpignan because she has married a french Taiji instuctor. Her father is a very, very important person in China, first time in France to discover his 1 month old grand daughter. I could not miss the opportunity to meet him, even if I should not be able to continue Taiji. Our Master Bindel makes his best to invite masters from all Europe and USA come to Elne for special course. Unfortunately, it' s more than 100 miles, too far for an every week work.

Yes, with him, I hope to obtain my black belt this year, I failed last time, I had difficulties to knockdown my friend ( my mind is not used to ), and I hope to obtain my second dan in Toreikan in a few monthes. Master Bindel represents the french side of Dillman Karate International. I have yet trained many courses with him: arnis, nunchaku, tonfa, saber, naginata, kyusho, toreikan. You can find him at E.F.B. ( Ecole Française de Budo ) he has founded many years ago.

I expect to test for my black belt in Waka Michi Ryu Aikido this Spring. I have been my Sensei's uke for almost 4 years now. Aikido has taken me a long time to adjust to doing. My prior training was mostly striking arts and I had many ingrained habits to get over before I was able to relax and go with the flow. Good Luck on your test!

Toreikan? Is that the same style as Yoseikan Aiki-Budo? I mean, isn't that a Kenpo and Aikido blend? Traditional Okinawan Kenpo with a big emphasis on joint locks and throws.

I really enjoy weapons training, especially the Yawara and knives. When I lived in North Carolina I was lucky enough to train in Kali Escrima and Wing Chun.

I missed a Dillman seminar last year because I was sick. They were very nice and let me have my money back. Hopefully I can catch him this year.

I will look around and see what I can find online of your Sensei. He sounds like he is very well trained and knowledgeable.
