Isn't Wrath actually paired with "Patience" in the whole Deadly Sins vs. Heavenly Virtues thing?

Isn't there that old cliche about defensive fighting? And characters who use the brash aggressive moves of their opponents against them? You've seen something like that right? Usually it's some sort of old master person or someone who doesn't necessarily want to fight but will when they see there's no choice.
That's kinda the idea I had.
Btw, who is Devotion paralleling? I don't recall that being mentioned in her description.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

I congratulate you, sir, for not using the cliched lion symbolism for all of Courage. Not many would've thought Mongoose. Good job and well worth a favorite.

She certainly lives up to her name. I like the rivalry Courage has with Wrath.

Mongoose? Interesting. I would have gone with terrier, but, then again, your I think your choice is much better. A terrier simply takes down rats and other vermin, most of which is smaller than it is and fears it to boot. But the mongoose attacks cobras, dangerous reptiles, with no concept of fear and who also have a little thing known as venom.

A big fan of much of your work but this is the first time I've probably spoke up. The scars show she certainly has her fair share of battles, and I think individually they're quite fitting but the whole of them together is rather extreme. If she and Wrath have fought so much, do the vices have better healing capabilities or some such? In comparison Wrath looks flawless.
This is just more for curiosities sake than anything.

Mercy, Forgiveness, Patience. These things are the opposite of Wrath, and you went with Courage. I hope it plays out well for you.

Don't forget justice. Dealing punishments that fit the crime, and never taking pleasure in it, lest it taint your judgment.

As I said earlier, just because a virtue opposes one another doesn't mean they'd make good opponents. Patience would only be able to run away or defend against Wrath's attacks; it takes Courage to stand up against them and fight back.

Mercy is a more accurate portral of Wrath's opposite, than forgiveness or patience. And i think you miss the point of the virtues/vices, it's not about fighting back, its about equal and opposite concepts. And Mercy would be able to fight back against Wrath, she just wouldn't go too far and let a lust for vengence and violence get the better of her. Thus while Mercy can overcome Wrath, Wrath is never truely defeated and so the balance is maintained.

I understand exactly what the point is. But when you personify concepts you have to realize that someone is going to have to fight back. And so you need someone who is willing to fight back. And to fight against the embodiment of wrath, you need courage, Courage gets the job.

Very nicely done here. I've always admired girls who are willing to wear their scars proudly, as it always seems to say that they are confident enough in themselves to not care what others think. Personally, I've never liked women who put ridiculous amounts of effort into hiding every "flaw" that some magazine or talk show convinces them they have, soa a woman like courage here is right up my alley.
A mongoose, you say? Very clever choice, as most other people would have gone with the more obvious choice of lion. I also love the the design of her halo, it's a nice contrast to the rest of her outfit's simple design.

D'oh! I was so close! I guessed she would be a Virtue, but the specific one was off.
One question I have, are the Virtues intended to be direct opposites of the Sins? If so, what is Courage the opposite of? It's fine if they're not supposed to be related that way, I'm just curious.

I like how nervous she looks, kind of a reluctant hero, who doesn't really want to do what she's about to, but must anyways. Starting off pretty angelic, though... not that's a bad thing.. she's got an interesting and tight design, the biggest crit I would have is "Why she so skimpy?" ...but that'd be why others would like her...

SpiralingStaircase In reply to DanTails [2009-02-08 05:46:03 +0000 UTC]
Well, think about all the ways angels have been depicted. It ranges everywhere from totally naked to covered in billowing robes. You'll see other clothing on some of the others. The logical thing for me to say is that being as ready for danger as she is, she's gotta be clothed lightly enough to where she can move without restriction. That's why she and Wrath's human forms are clothed in athletic gear- equipment designed for a person to move around in.
