Description I've been noticing a lot of interesting textures lately, so I thought I'd submit something a little different. A few pictures focusing on the textures of winter.

There should be a few more to come after this one. This will be my first series, although the pictures themselves will look entirely dissimilar.

Whoa, that looks so pretty... we never get snow. Bloody cold, but no snow.

Wish I could see *that* at my workplace.

i like it, even though it doesnt remind me of winter that much, but rather on a plastic (and ruined) material. but the effect made by those shapes is great!

That looks brilliant but also pretty creepy. I think it's to do with the fact that it looks really deep or something.

Meg kinda said what I was thinking. What are the orangy glowy parts coming from?

They're reflections from the streetlight in the parking lot where this was shot.

I love the way that ice looks. It's always so surreal looking, especially when it freezes really fast, it's like it was stopped halfway to where it was going.

Very pretty. Makes me wanna lick it

Ice is always interesting to look at.

Go ahead, have a lick.

I don't know what I'm looking at (well, I do because I read one of your responses, but I mean I really don't know what I'm looking at) but it's spectacular fun.

Almost looks like clouds.

It's the side of a huge icicle thing that I found on the side of a building. Its neat, the kind of shapes that ice can make.

Thanks for the comment.

Spoolaroo In reply to KagomeResurrected [2006-12-13 06:01:33 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it's in the parking lot at my dam. I took this picture at night, and used the flash. The orange bits that you can see in the ice, are the street lights.

Another photograph that looks almost artificial. Where's this from, cause this is beautiful?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spoolaroo In reply to DarkApple [2006-12-13 06:06:44 +0000 UTC]

It's from this big icicle thing in the parking lot, at the dam where I work. There's a few cracks in the dam, where water gets through, and it creates these huge ice formations, that almost look like they froze like that instantly. Like frozen streams of water.

wht exactly is this? I can't figure out... I do love the wispy degradation of color from a fresh blue to murky dark grey

Spoolaroo In reply to sanah82 [2006-12-13 06:09:02 +0000 UTC]

It's a section of ice, from the side of a huge icicle thing at my work. I work at a hydroelectric dam, and water comes through some cracks in the concrete, and allows for some really neat looking ice formations.
