Description For ~Pure-Escapism contest!

I was given a song to draw a theme from which I had come to understand was fading relationships, but I chose a rather abstract way to go about it so It might have gotten lost within my little attempts at symbolism!

The song is Misery by Maroon 5

whoa, the scenery in this is great and loving the contrast between the bright sky and the dark ground.

Abstract is the best way to represent the theme of a song, I think (so it's too bad I can only think of very literal images augh, those are so boring when it comes to music )

A lot of the stuff I've been thinking is in here though but like... also plenty different so this is pretty cool, haha. Wondering what inspired that little bird though, rather than any other possible animal or whatnot.

Thanks sparra and I'm glad you think so! I always feel like going the abstract route whenever I have to base anything with a song

The bird, while I do enjoy drawing them anyways, was supposed to represent the hope/freedom he feels for her still even though she is "drifting apart"
For the most part I just wanted to draw a bird instead, let's say a flying bug or bat or something else. A bird seemed like a much prettier option.

I think it's the best way to do it~

Ah, that makes sense! And birds work better; there's not really so much free about bats and bugs, lol. They can fly, but either not as well or people always want to smack them.

I really love how you portrayed the song! You can definitely feel the same emotion from the song in this picture. The top half, where it's brighter, reminds me a bit of the lines where Adam sings about getting her back. The colors feel bright and happy up there, like some a bit of hope.

The bottom of this picture reminds me of the lines, "I'm desperate and confused, so far away from you."
At least... This is what i got from the picture. cx I really do like how you've portrayed the song! Good luck!

Looks like you picked up on my intentions! I tried to include a lot of the lyrics in this one way or another and those were definitely a part of this! Thank you!!
