I think this effect is called "worm view"...

Haven't heard of that before XP. Can Imagine why it's called like that though.

That scene of battle in the forest was great. Gotta love the Greyjoys.
And, beautiful realization.

It's such a treat to find art of the book version of Asha and such a great battle scene it is too. Thank you for sharing.Β

So good steamey! The use of perspective and textures are as good as always. The background, the movement, the atmosphear are great as well. An instant fav, again. Asha's portrait is extremely good as well.
However I'm not so sure about customes, the armor of the fallen Northerner doesn't fit with my mental image of them, nor with the image Martin describes about furry, rude, scruffy and smelly warriors, clad in leather and furs. The almost Corinthian shape of the helmet seems a bit off. Just my two cents, hope you won't mind some critizism, still I deeply love your work, keep up the quality of your artworks and I'll wait eagerly the next ASOIAF fanart.

On the contrary - thanks for the criticism! I know that i'mΒ not good in drawing of armor and all that. ItΒ would be wise never paint such scenes again.

Au contrair my most talented Steamey! Your skills are great and your metallic surfaces, textures and all that stuff are top-notch, magnificent: for example your "Dain's last stand" is a true masterwork, there your armors and robes are splendid. I didn't intend to discourage you, but to polish some little details that bugged me off. If you refrained from doing such scenes I would feel very guilty! After all I don't know many artists capable of doing that perspective (eye worm?) successfully! So it would be WISE indeed you continue doing such marvelous scenes.Β

Don't worry. I took note of your comment and really agree with him. Drawing armorΒ and warriors is not my strong point.Β I love to draw people and this I ought to do.

Not your strong point indeed, your best is drawing people, portraying their emotions, the interaction between characters, the feelings... All these things is were your art shines and is really unique. For example Theoden visiting Γomer and Γowyn at the East Fold, or the last moments of NiΓ©nor. Some of your scenes are unparalleled in deviantart, only someone like Eukanova can paint as beautifully as you. So keep up the good work, Steamey.
Might be too daring if I ask what project do you have in mind right now? Just curious and eager to see what will you submit the next time.

I am currently working on several paintings at the same time. Plus of course my official work (boring duty which brings money). What comes next? Something that will be completed the fastest.Β I am still interested in Middle-earth, Vasteros, the world of The Witcher, and in covers for my favorite books.

Nice. I'd love to see something Westerosi again, you should try a courtly scene this time, maybe something with Tywin Lannister himself! It would be lovely to see your attempt in portraying THE Tywin, as your portrait of his twins was awesome. And there are many things in LotR to depict... I'll be eagerly waiting your next submit.
