Description
This here is Heimdall, the Norse God.Heimdall is the guardian of the Bifrost (Rainbow) Bridge which links the world of man (Midgard) and Asgard. He apparently can see all and will be the one to foretell the coming of Ragnarok.
I have a pretty keen interest in Norse mythology and enjoy reading about Heimdall and the other Norse myths like Odin, Thor, Asgard, Frost Giants and all that sort of thing.
This sketch is based on the characters as they are portrayed in the Marvel comics. Influenced by the artwork by Oliver Coipel in the Thor books.
I am part the way through inking this at the moment but I'm interested to hear what people think so far.

Looking very good - the face in particular looks suitably stern. When you say "inking" - do you mean in the traditional sense - or do you do that on the computer now that you have your tablet? If you haven't already tried it - have you thought of skipping the inking stage?

It's an interesting point you raise.
I am a bit of a traditional junkie so I am inking this by hand at the moment... then I'll probably do my usual coloured pencil deal with it.
Saying that though I do think this pictures lends itself to being done digitally so I have a master pencil version tucked away so I can give it a go with my tablet when I get some free time.

Cool, I have been reading a few books on Norse mythology and it is some really interesting stuff so I think I might do more pictures along those lines.
And now you have just given me the motivation to get this inked quicker

I'll probably do my usual and finish this by hand (nearly done with the inking). But I think it could look alright if I digitally painted it as well. I'll see how I go with time.

Pretty wicked man!
I would love to see you try to use these pencil lines in photoshop to color, darkening them up in the program. The inks will look awesome, but the pencils always look better to me
Also, really love the shades. I have too many comics, and loads of thor comics. The arm and gauntlets are spot on to the style.
