Wow, it really is tiny. What do they eat at that size? Insects and tiny fish / tadpoles (if near water)?

They live under stuff so I think they eat worms and small insects.

they love slugs best, they eat worms but really go crazy over slugs

That's what it looks like. I'd say the brown snake, based off the markings on it's head.
