Description I'm back! ... With more rocks, but this time they're colorful! Yay!

I got really tired of working days on a single piece. This took about two hours, with breaks.

I don't as much to say as last time. The building/pillar things are clearly meant to be abstract, so I can't really comment, though they look kind of jarring amidst the natural shapes. Your color balance is sexy, but again, jarring. The water below doesn't look merely contrasted against, it actively looks DEAD.

Also, I get the flat look you're going for, but even so, that's a huge blank canvas for sky. There's blankness and then there's blankness, you know? Even a barely perceptible color change to represent clouds would help. Alternatively, if you don't want to add stuff and just want to learn to use blankness more dynamically, look up 水墨山 in images...it's a type of Chinese art. They use blank space to add an ethereal feel. It's just as blank, but it serves a bit more of a purpose and doesn't deaden the picture.

Thanks for the critique! I'll keep up to date with how static my pieces are, and change them to give them more vivid life. Thank you for the link, as well.

I love this! Just enough abstraction. The mood of the piece is what gets me the most, it's very lonely, empty, but calm. I can imagine floating, lost in the ocean. Very well done. The hue shifting you used did wonders for the atmosphere, I love the purple/orange for the foreground, and the green in the back gives a nice sense of distance. My one critique is one I share with Jojiro-kun, and that's that the sky could use something to offset the foreground. It seems... blank otherwise.

It's amazing how well you use limited colours, and you always use the perfect shades too. Love the rock texture! Your work is really inspiring c:

When I heard 'beach' I thought there'd be sand...

I love it nonetheless!

I live around a place where all the beaches are made of crushed shells and pebbles, nestled between giant slabs of eroding sandstone. A lot of the time it's just rock and water, spattered with grass and seaweed. I'm glad you like the piece!

Ah, now that you say, it, there's a place where our church does baptism. The shore is covered with fine dirt and pebbles and it has a huge jagged rock on the left that has a tiny cave underneath it.

Yeah, while the adults do baptism, the kids throw stones in the water and chase each other even though they're not supposed to.

And the dramatic hue shifting is perfect.

Thank you! It's great to know the hue shifting turned out okay.
