Description --FULL TITLE is Shattering the Veils of All Peaceful Vows

err.. what can i say..? its unbelievable the amount of time i spent on this.
i dont even know how to describe it, there's just so much.. i think i'll skip it for now, maybe i'll find words later on. i'm working on a poem that'll go with this, i'll add it to the description when its done. this might just be the most complete piece i've done. im not talking graphically, but even there.. its not so bad, i think. but then again, i dont know.

the title is a line from something i wrote a while ago, 'One of Stitches': [link]
the BG is also available here, for a more complete view.. [link]

the head with the cross.. yes, one of my fav. elements in it.. puppettry's quite..omnipresent.. figuring out where the strings are, and how to cut them, is quite something

This is awesome! Looks like the kind of stuff I've been working on. Lots of branching roots, wires, weird fleshy masses with various extremities growing out of them. I love the thing that looks like its about to eat another head. It's awesome. Lots of little things to look at.

Your pencil work is becoming much more refined and detailed

I'm surprised I missed this one in the update of my devwatch.

Keep up the excellent work man, I might have to ingest your brain soon to get some artistic flow.

missed it in your devwatch? blasphemy! you should be spanked for that, as i did wonder if you'd seen it, cause i hope you do know you are one of my few most precious watchers

as for my pencil work, i must thank you for your kind words, cause as much as my goal is to express myself in my 'art', its also to improve it in quality, and its not necessarily easy to see the evolution myself, as i tend not to look at my past work much.

oh, and you can have my brain, but i must warn you, it comes with paranoia, waking visions, memories of a horrible past and a complete absence of self-esteem and hope
attracting, huh?

I've been out of the loop lately... just indulging myself in things I could go without.

I get hung up on my past works... sometimes wondering why the fuck I did it and where I went wrong... But eh.. heh.

Yes, I will take your brain. Mail it to me, or you can go with UPS, I hear they have a discount for brains with IQs over 110. You should be able to get a good price then.

out of the loop.... i'd say, it's more likely to be the loop who's got the problem, cause pretty much everyone i know, including me, have 'out of the loop' in fact, i really wonder if there was actually ever a loop

past works, yes, thats exactly why i try to avoid focusing on them.. they make you regret not having done things like you wish you would have done them, and thats completely useless, as you couldnt have done them then with the mind you have now

aaaand you know what, i think i'll stick to my brain a bit longer, just enough to finish this drawing.. as for the IQ, i must say i have no idea

The loop hates me.

You're right, past works and looking back only bring regret, when that energy could be put toward something useful.

Your brain is useless... send it to me now. Yes.. useless... just what I want you to think...

Hey, I saw this one Glome's page. Very nice.

You've captured alot of human emotion through depicting something that is very visually inhuman. A hard thing to master. And your techniques are very amazing. I especially love the back ground in all it's intircate beauty.

Very nice work here.

Wow, this turned out really stunning. I think its amazing the way you use background sketches as I've never come across anyone who does for traditional drawings. But this is a really great piece.

What scale do you work on?

Synbryo In reply to WednesdaysChild [2005-03-21 14:02:00 +0000 UTC]

im barely starting out with background sketches, this and 'reaching out' are the only ones i've used it in. the one on reaching out was less conceptual, i just spilled the main idea all over the page. for this one i decided to work harder, and i managed to make it turn out somewhat like what i had in mind. its nothing amazing, but to me its a new step leading forward. this feels like the first piece i've ever done that is fully complete. also, working on seperate sheets allows more flexibility as to contrasts and so on.

anyway.. thanks for the comment

yep, letter format

Last time you mentioned 8 1/2 and 11 inches. Sorry I forgot.

Sorry it took me so long to get to this, got a lot of deviations... yanno

This is excellent, however. Technically speaking it's probably the best of your work i've seen. Amazing job.

If anything though, I wish the background was a bit more visible because you put so much detail into it... it's a bit wasteful, but it does make for a very beautiful feel.

Synbryo In reply to TheGlome [2005-03-19 23:12:00 +0000 UTC]

hey, thanks man.. no problem with the time lapse, im glad you've seen, and liked it, moreso enough to fav

as for the background, i drew it knowing what parts would be hidden, what parts would link with other layers, knowing it would be very light, and so on. it was intended to lose visibility, as it IS the background, and i'm quite proud of how it all came out. i posted the background seperately, as i think you've seen, to make up for the lost visibility.

thanks again, im happy to see this pleases you

TheGlome In reply to Synbryo [2005-03-20 03:19:15 +0000 UTC]

Ah, if you're happy with it - so am I, because it really is a great piece

And yes, I looked at the background and loved it, which is why I wondered why you hid so much of it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Synbryo In reply to TheGlome [2005-03-20 05:13:54 +0000 UTC]

ah, well now you know
this is part of why this thing took so long, having to make the layers fit, and show/hide the parts of the bg i wanted
im also sort of proud of how the bright circle 'hole', on the left, came out, with the heart and head fitting just like i wanted them

anyway.. again, glad you like it

I know the amount of time you put in this is just INSANE...but I didn't know it would be that awesome!! (Although I knew it would be great)...
This one is my big favorite... (and i'm glad you didn't make a 4th background ).
Your style is taking a big step forward...KEEP ON!
