Full view please! It's necessary to see this in any sort of detail.To celebrate the arrival of my Prime Starscream, I give you a "Moulin Rouge!" parody. I wrote it myself and, oh God, what was I thinking? I can't believe I did this- not because it's particularly good, but because it was an insane idea and an insane undertaking. I knew I wanted to do something special with Prime Screamer because he's such a pretty bird, but this was checking sanity at the door.
"Moulin Rouge!" belongs to Baz Luhrmann. He did not write "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", but he is responsible for the version I used for this parody.
The various "Transformers" franchises are owned by Hasbro, who I doubt cares about this since I am showing off their lovely toys to encourage you to buy them, yes?
I suppose the lyrics to"Dark Energon Is a 'Con's Best Friend" technically belongs to me. I'm not sure that's worth bragging rights.

Better grab it quick- the First Edition is no longer shipping and I'm not sure how good the Robots In Disguise edition will be. The RID one has clunky red things for his rockets. Pray they are removable.

DotM just. Doesn't. Sell. And you know why? They're crappy. Oh, they're not poor quality. They're not too simplistic or silly transformation sequences. No, they look like crap because the movie designs are INSANE. I have Starscream because I love Starscream (I have too many movie Starscreams, it's truly sad) and Shockwave because it's Shockwave, but goddamn are the rest an ugly horde. I almost wonder if their inability to leave the shelves is why Hasbro did such a limited run for the First Editions.

The movie designs are batshit.
No toy is ever going to be accurate or even a close representation of what they are. They just keep getting weirder and uglier as the movies go on. I have a Barricade from the first movie. Yeah, he pretty much looks like an evil police car robot. But...JESUS...GIANT TENTACLE THING?
The figures who aren't Shockwave and Starscream are ugly as fuck. I briefly considered picking up movie Shockwave, but realized I already had the TFA one and that he wasn't a Bayformer. Ergo, I kept my TFA one. He's hanging out with TFA Megatron, Jack Skellington and Breach. EPIC CROSSOVER.
Toy companies sure are failing with distribution lately.
Mattel fails at getting Monster High product out on time. Seriously, shelves have been BARE at ALL my local retailers for over a month. WTF? It is hard to be a collector when there ISN'T ANY PRODUCT. Those that do get out get snatched up by scalpers. I'm not paying $45 for a doll that retails for $20.

Starscream is a damn fugly chicken. The Leader size one actually looks pretty good, but the smaller he is, the fuglier he is. Did I mention I own six of them? Because when a girl loves a Transformers character very, very much...

I almost didn't get Shockwave because he looks like some weird muscular dinosaur. But then I decided it's Shockwave and that alone makes it awesome. Then I took him out of the packaging and he assaulted me with his tentacle.

Exactly. While I still got my Screamer, Hasbro essentially lost a sale on me. I was trying to snap him up at Target or Toys 'R Us for weeks and I don't exactly live in the middle of nowhere.
I wonder if the lack of show accurate toys is some maniacal scheme on the part of Hasbro. The die-hards are going to buy the toys no matter what and, as time goes on, resistance will weaken and people will buy the non-show accurate ones just to finally have that Pinkie Pie or Rarity. So what if then, after that, Hasbro does release show accurate toys? Everyone will buy them all over again. You know they will!
I don't think Hasbro will really do this. But if they do... well, then we know they're evil.
Sometimes, I see some of the recolored ponies and think they are so pretty, surely I could just get one... and I stop myself. Because I have an army of robots, that's why.

I love how this eerily and scarily, yet sexually fits Prime Starscream. I love that Harold Zidler is played by Swindle because it makes perfect sense. There is absolutely nothing but perfection.

Showing off Prime Starscream's posability was one of my motives for making this. This might still have been funny with a different Starscream, but every other one is clunky and Prime Scream might be the only toy I have who can actually cross his legs. I could make him strut and work the song.
I'll keep an eye out, but he's going to be damn hard to find. Online is your best bet. He's fun- he has a maniacal laugh and makes a great perch for Starscreams of all sizes. (He is on Amazon for about $90- or $60 for the Japanese, which is oddly cheaper.

It is for the Japanese version and supposedly TFA got butchered over there (REVENGE, I never thought revenge for our mangling of anime would strike at something I love), so it might be accurate for them.

Honestly, from what I heard, despite the direction in an interview stating such as TFA will be a movie prequel and Bulkhead changing his name to Ironhide, reports state the Japanese dub us actually accurate to the American. They did cut some scenes out. Not for censorship purposes, but to squeeze in a short that plays at the end of each episode starring a live action family (whose job is to advertise the TFA toys). It's...quaint.

I initially had no plans for a Zidler, but it struck me as a flash of inspiration. Actually, that describes the whole thing- less than 24 hours from getting the idea to completing it. Whew!

Yeah. Originally I was going to use Optimus in the scene with BA, but I couldn't get him to pose properly. Plus, Starscream knocking over Optimus might make you wince, but Screamer knocking over Sentinel is funny.

"Moulin Rouge" is a lovely movie for the eyes and ears, letting the mind glaze over the not-as-equally inspired plot. I think the point of the movie is the music and the emotion it'll sweep over you. I love the soundtrack.
