I heard somebody call her that someplace or other, and for some reason, I've decided it's adorable.I was gonna say something exaggeratedly mod and casual, like "omg this girl has totally long hair u gaiz", until I realized that this is precisely the problem with every single piece of merchandising for this film.
So I'm not going to.
Instead, I'm going to talk about her looks. First, I have to confess that when I first saw Rapunzel's finalized design, I wasn't exactly impressed. I wasn't that impressed when I saw the trailer either, although it was hard to tell because, ha ha, she was barely in it. Ha ha. I'm still not quite sure how I feel, but it turns out that not only does the design work super-well in 2D form, it's ADORABLE and super-super fun to draw. And while we're all trying not to think about the implications of this too hard, I'll just say that I'm comfortably sure chica's gonna look pretty darn cute in action. Love her FEET. Seriously, I can't stop loving her feet. And her freckles. Nnng, they've made me so happy.
Meanwhile, I just hope my png transparencies work because how did this get here I am not good with computers.

Really love the transparency, it offsets her hair nicely. I like the way you've drawn her dress, with pink outlining the corset laces, neckline, and waist. You did a magnificent hob of catching the correct hair color! Have you seen the movie yet?

I love those country feet too! They did a marvelous job making her toes flush gentle shades of red and pink when she first stepped onto the grass.

Wow! beautiful job with the hair! you got her whole character spo on. they did some crazy junk to get the hair to work right in this movie. D: I think they had about 172 actual individual strands of hair on her head. insane junk.

Just saw the movie today. It was FANTASTIC! At least I thought so. Lol. And she is completely adorable. Mandy Moore did such a great job with the adorable voice.
This is such a cute drawing. I usually try to avoid being a fangirl in my comments, but this is seriously just too cute and I have nothing else to say about it!

I remember seeing some of the concept art for this two years ago where they painted Rapunzel in a very similar way to that famous Rococo painting, The Swing by Jean-Honore Fragonard. I can't find the concept picture now. I included it in a report in one of my art history classes when I was giving a Power Point presentation on Jean Honore Fragonard's various Rococo paintings.

They sell this tiny doll at Walmart--like maybe three inches tall!--that reminds me so much of this, and therefore I kind it completely adorable!

You have an amazingly charming style that fits "Punzie" perfectly.
Not to go back to the "OMG U GAIS SHE HAZ LONG HAIR LIEK WOAH" Tangent, but I love the depth and dimension you added to her hair with swirling strands, the color, etc.
All in all, great job. I really would like to offer tips on how to improve, as I would with any artist, but ... well, I just don't see any!

I read somewhere that the guy is the focus and not Rapunzel..which explains why it's not named after her. <-<; Basically, the Princess and the Frog didn't compete with other computer animated films so they wanted to do a computer animation...and have something to rival the likes of Shrek. I figure they are going to try and make it less 'girly'. It's all about what sells I guess. We'll see.

Well, the film was already CG before Princess and the Frog ever came out.
And although Tangled is being marketed as though Flynn is the main character, I don't think that will be the case in the actual movie. The trailers definitely want you to think he is, but they also don't mention that the movie's a musical, so there's some trust issues going on here.

I've loved her from the minute I saw her, mainly due to someone pointing out she's essientially the female verison of Miguel from The Road to El Dorado. (With the dude bearing a susupicious familarity to Tulio)

A few touch ups on the nose to help it rise up off her face, and a little clean up near the end of her hair where I see some trapped white, and she's ready to leave the tower.

This is so pretty! Have I told you yet how much I love the way you color? It's so painter like and smooth.
Yeah when I first saw the trailer I was like "wait...this movie is about Rapunzel right? Where is she?...oh there she is." lol I wasn't impressed by it either but then I saw all the artwork done for it, official and fanart wise, and I really do think she's becoming one of my favorite designs & characters. She's got a sorta quirky look about her, child like innocence and fair beauty rolled into one. Like she could go to a ball and be the prettiest thing there but she'd much rather climb trees and go on adventures. It's adorable. I love that she walks barefoot too! Too cute!

Dropped into the Disney Store over the weekend (B&tB Blu-Ray preorder! YAY) and was floored by the amount of merchandise already available...Walmart, too, actually. I supposed I'm out of the loop on advance merch releases, what with the not buying stuff for so many years--
My point being, I dislike(d) her eyes. In the previews, what little we see her, it doesn't look so odd. But on the dolls, it's strange. Other princesses, modeled like Barbies, have eyes that look more reasonably sized, but this one? Wow, are they big. Still--I'm not passing judgement on her (or the film), just yet. It looks like it'll be great, and I'm sure my little girl will be in love...but I dread buying one of those massive wigs that I know will be promoted like nuts.
FWIW, her feet are DARLING. Such expressive toes!
