Description

Lempo is a flying creature, associated with hiisi (goblins of Finnish folklore), shooting arrows, throwing spears, causing pain and diseases to people and animals. Lempo and Hiisi together push axes and knives to cause bleedings. Lempo (like Hiisi) has become a synonym for just any evil creature. Lempo is threatened with a gruesome death in healing spells.

And if the iron acts amiss,

if Lempo cause the knife to slip,

the flesh of Lempo shall be sliced,

the Evil One be cut in twain,

with a blade that himself has made,

with iron hammered by himself,

on his own mother's knee,

when in his parent's care.
