I guess they aren't really so pretty and alluring up close after all.....I love the classic look of mermaids, but I imagine they would be more fish like and savage if they were real.
Method: Acrylic and Prismacolor pencil on 11 x 14 inch Bristol Paper.

The colors in this are just incredible. They remind me of the all the many shades of the sea. Her stance is beautiful and she has such an expression to let on that she is in her element. The tail and fin are my favorite part, the texture is so unique. I took a look through your gallery too and you have such profound talent. I know how difficult acrylic is to work with so I am blown away bu your ability to work with it. Bravo! It is lovely!

I love her, she looks just like I always imagine a mermaid to look only better !!!This would look great in a nautical themed room.You should see if "Prestons" a catalog of sea related decorative items would want to buy this one to sell in their catalog.I bet they would love to have it.Might be a lucrative deal.You are so good at this, you should be famous if you aren't already, for your artwork.Do you show in any gallery's besides here, awards? This should be your full time career right here, you certainly are good enough to do it.

Thank you so much! And no, I certainly have not gotten anywhere with my art to where I'd want to be. I will look into this catalog though, it sounds great. I don't have anything in galleries, I never know how to go about these things and with a full time job it's hard to organize anything like booths at fairs or art showings. It's all word of mouth and through family, friends and my other deviantArt friends.

I agree.Self taught is better, more creative instead of following some other person's way of painting.I am self taught.I think the reason I have sold a lot of art is people thought I was the other "Dawn Caldwell" she is well known and I used to be a Caldwell and sign with her name, and I used to live in her home town.I sold a lot more art then, ha!ha!Anyway I sure think you should be famous and i think if the right person see's your art you will be.I do hope you will send some of your mermaids to "Prestons" I bet they would love them, yours look better than the ones they sell now. also think a card company may buy some of your images as well.Take care sweet, talented lady!
