Description Artwork made in order to honor my all-time fave roboticized villain, the Master Cylinder of Felix the cat's universe himself!

This was his initial design for TV series, limited to one (debut! ) episode out of all the appearances of this character throughout the 1958+ saga.... and I must say that out of all the varieties of concept this particular appearance is holding as my favourite----detailed and expressive.

And yes, there is wire running on the ground from Cylinder to the socket in the wall. Due to this "innovation" Master Cylinder got easily owned.....which made him turn to mobile versions of himself (the one seen above was at least 3m high and fixed to the ground---forcing owner of this body to control entire base via telescopic arms while he kept standing in one place ).

Seemingly eternally pissed-off Master Cylinder belongs to Felix the cat productions.

This appearance of his was the only one that included rich, spazmic expressions. If only they could have spent more time on doing longer, more thorough features instead of churning out over 9000 shallow episodes per year.

Wygląda tak samo, jak w serialu.
Coś go rozzłościło, czy on zawsze jest w takim złym humorze ? xD

Well, it isn't mine design---this one was created by Joseph Oriolo in 1959. Thanks anyway.

I did a "Which Felix the cat character are you" quiz if you wanna give it a try...

But yeah, Master Cylinder's got a REASON to be eternally pissed...

Yeah, I even remember taking it....and almost always ending up as the professor!

As for Cylinders personality...it is hard to say something fully consistent basing on TV show----he almost always appears pissed off, except for being surprised, damaged or laughing. Though within first episodes he seem to laugh EVEN MORE than Felix himself (in 100% cases over something malicious). Most of the time he just appears to be purposeless to the point of finding pleasure in trying to destroy the well-being of occasional passerbys!

I remember one comic where he kidnapped Felix and the professor and forced them to compete in a gameshow: Winner gets freedom, Loser has to stay there and be his eternal guine pig.

And yes, he did seem chipper there.

Well, the episode I took above appearance from has the Professor making a similar bargain with Master Cylinder: Poindexter goes back to earth (Cylinder knew nothing about Poindexter's genius at the moment of this episode, though he realised it fast enough to capture him right in the next one) and Felix remains on the moon, in order to be "used in his experiment" (note that 'experiment' here by its singularity implies one-use-only, oh boy...).

I think I saw that, didn't Felix unplug him?

Yeah... The fact that stuff like that happens is enough to make ANYONE go evil...

That is right! I still wonder how Cylinder made out of it fully operational. Too bad that also within his second appearance he didn't stopped his "talk malicious stuff while Felix figures out how to defeat him" streak - granting him yet another fail.

It is funny how Master Cylinder, while being the epitome of all generic cartoon/game overlords, remains more interesting than most of this bunch!

Well, if we're getting into a serious frame of mind, my guess on how Master Cylinder got himself up and running again would be solar power.

Think about it. If he had to rely on outlets, he wouldn't be mobile or anything. Maybe he was just experimenting with the concept of solar power at the time but didn't really see the use (After all, he IS on the moon. ) forgot to uninstall it... and soon as the part of the moon he's on hits sunlight, whammo- he's back, baby.

But then you're getting me into my "Looking at cartoons and thinking things farther then the usual 'It's just a cartoon' mentality" aspect.

I guess that at first he was supposed to be one-use-only villain, just like King Gulpo from "Felix baby-sits" episode. After all, his appearance in the second episode is very different (close to his usual-selves, except for failed experiment with eyes) from the initial one, possibly implying renowned interest in the potential of new character.

In that case, it is good for his first appearance to end up with power malfunction. At least Oriolo didn't had to make up stories "why is he alive after all that stuff". Other characters don't have as much luck---try for instance to think of consequent explaination for re-introducing someone that was supposed to burn in the atmosphere after rescuing space station!

LOL!!!

Master Cylinder: Why can't I remember my PAST?

Black doom: Hi... I'm a generic villian...

(I take it from all that I've seen of you that you DON'T care for Shadow that much. )

TheGreatMC In reply to battybuddy [2009-03-17 23:24:29 +0000 UTC]

Shadow is only decent when he isn't surrounded by rabid crowd talking everyone to death on how awesome and perfect he is (fat chance! ) PLUS when he isn't cracked up into 'heroism and ultimacy' (no luck here either). Everything left is good for making fun of.
