This is some really good detailed work! I really like the painting effect and the soldier's heroic expression! I think you could work on the lighting a bit more, and shade based on where the light is supposed to come from. And instead of shading the skin with black, try to use the same shade of color but darker, like brown or dark orange. Using a soft black brush and doing a line art around the character would be more attractive to the eye and also make it seem less smudgy. But I really like this and I'm sure you'll improve! Just keep practicing and you'll get better~ Hope this helped!
