A poignant story. I wonder if this aircraft was used in the film 'The Battle of Britain'?

It certainly was used in the film 'Battle of Britain' and also the film 'Patton' as this aircraft is actually a CASA 2, He111 built in Spain during the war under a license agreement with Germany and the Heinkel Company. CASA built a little over 200 of these craft and they only started to go operational in May 1945 after the war's end. This one was powered by Rolls Royce Merlin engines as were the later CASA 2's due to a shortage of the Jumo engines. During the 1960's the Spanish Air Force still had several operational CASA 2 He111's which were used in the films. This one was the sole remaining operational CASA 2 left at the time of it's crash.

Sad to hear. I saw one in a museum in London. They have become rare birds! Nice shot, btw!
