Description Left:
Babyface, or Brian, or Unit 728, or whatever the hell you were supposed to call him was in a bad mood. There was another senate hearing about scuttling every psyche warfare unit. It wouldn't go through, to the public he was still the hero that gutted the Childeater, it was just normal senate drama. However, it was understandably disconcerting to hear people arguing about lobotomizing you.
Joel was supposed to cheer him up, or at least get him to go back to training the other Tac-Comps. Millie was on vacation, and Madcap had all the emotional sensitivity of dead walrus, so it became Joel's job.
He knew Babyface knew he was there. But out of politeness he still said hello.
Babyface sighed, pulsing his cooling vents. "ADA put you up to this, didn't ze?
"Yeah, but ze's picking up the tab for seven cheesepumpkin burgers, so I didn't really protest too much." Joel said and sat down next to him. He handed Babyface a burger.
"Have you ever thought about going into unlimited sports? Madcap says it's fun."
"No, I'm not really into sports" Babyface stuffed another burger into his gullet and played with his plasma field.
"I appreciate your concern, and the burgers, but I need to be alone right now." And with that he stood up and started walking into the desert.
"O-okay, I'll be on base."
There was no reply.

Right:
"Congratulations! It's a... thing..."
Millie laughed at Abe's comment. "I've never held one before, I think real babies squirm more."
"Real babies have brains, these don't" said Abe, "Look over here, I'm going to take a picture, to commemorate your first chassis delivery!" Abe signaled his recorder to take a high-res picture.
"I'm naming this one Babyface, lookit, no split palate, no cyclopia, he's almost cute!"
"No, no, we can't name a chassis Babyface, it's an expensive piece of military hardware."
"Says, who, you named the last one Buick, that's a terrible name."
Abe conceded the point. "Okay, Babyface it is."

A few experiments in digital inking. I still prefer real ink, but I'd like to be able to replicate it on the computer. It's really hard to ink digitally though, and I think anyone claiming that drawing with a tablet automatically makes great art really has no experience with either traditional or digital art. Cats puke on your picture, photoshop crashes right before you were going to save... it's all hard.

The technical document is still coming, it's going to be pretty big

Photoshop CS3, Wacom tablet. I really like the right picture. Baaaby Babyface!

Looks like someone made a tamed Titan (like the ones in Attack on Titan)...need to read my way around this gallery.

I remember seeing a Joel character on your Tumblr once, but that one had a toaster for a head and was female, as far as I could tell. Is that Joel a revamp of this one, or are they two different characters? Also, cheesepumpkins. I want.

Yep! Joel ended up merging this character and a few other ideas to help make the comic a little bit shorter (and more likely to actually be finished)!

Good to know I can pay attention to your characters enough to make these kinds of connections your work inspires me like nothing else on the planet (except H.R. Giger xD)

How does he eat without a digestive tract?
Also, it's always nice to see a weapon with personality.

I am in love with your art.

Having said that, who is (or um...was ) the Childeater ?

The impact of the commentary would not be the same without your handwriting X3

Augh, I can't figure out a way to word my admiration of his candor. Nor word my desire to speculate on whether it came from human or non-human development (given its rarity in regular people).

Pretend that I did, and that it was eloquent!

I have experienced both unorthodox naming events and cat catharsis

Thanks!

His bluntness largely stems from the fact that he usually figures out where the conversation is going before anyone else does, and the more impatient he gets the more likely he is to jump straight to the end.

It was eloquent, or at least you realized that I was making his speech very frank before I did

Oh gosh noooooo, kitty pukes

If you're looking to do excessive digital inking, the best program is Manga Studio 4. My professor totally flipped his lid over it.

I love Babyface, and the peeks at the concept you've shared so far. I can't wait for that big technical document

On the digital inking: I'm one of the ones who claims it's easier...and you're right. I have no experience with either and suck at both But you still make it look easy.

Whoops, I really hope that didn't sound like a dig against people that prefer digital! I've just seen a few accusations that a tablet makes a person into an artist, and can attest to the fact that drawing is damn hard on whatever medium!

Glad you like
